Mountainduo Posted October 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2008 We're booked for Barcelona-Lisbon in less than two weeks. Curious about the current music offerings in the lounge and the Compass Rose....type of music in each? popularity of the two venues? Much dancing going on?? thanks
GeneBK Posted October 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Hi, Mountainduo, We're on your cruise, too (I posted a roll call with no responses from others on our cruise :() We also enjoy dancing so I hope there is some good musical variety. We usually have a great band, and someone great in the lounge when we cruise. Anyone out there know who's on this ship now??
pcx Posted October 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2008 We were on W/Surf for 2 weeks 5-19 Oct in the Med - our first time with Windstar but loved everything about the cruise and will definitely do another one. However, re your questions on music/entertainment - there is very little. In the Compass Rose each evening for a couple of hours there was a English duo called Rain (girl/boy) - very good and professional and one night each week they did a music quiz which was fun - good range of music but only a very small dancefloor and there was only one night that people really got up to dance to them - basically more like background music than a 'peformance'. In the main lounge there was a trio band -don't mean to be unkind but have to say they were getting on a bit - again they could play well but everynight it was to an empty room as just no one (and it was a full ship the first week) went in there after dinner to listen to them - very strange compared to other cruises where the entertainment has been a big part of the evening. One night we had a deck party and the trio played in the empty swimming pool and that is the best we saw of them. Nevertheless it didn't spoil our holiday but if you are looking for a lively evening after dinner it is unlikely you will get it. Hope you all enjoy the cruise. Mountainduo Posted October 29, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2008 That information was helpful. We've been on a Wind Surf cruise with Rain (the musical duo, that is) before. You're right, pleasant listening but not too conducive to dancing. I presume you mean by "getting on a bit" means the trio has many (too many?) years of experience. That may not be all bad for our needs; we like oldies dancing, even simple ballroom dances, as well. Anyway, sometimes it only takes one couple to awaken a few others and get a little more activity going. Then again, if not, it wouldn't be the first time we were the only couple on the dance floor....or in the lounge for that matter..... thanks, and glad you enjoyed the cruise!
