For my brother and his girlfriend. They are about to embark on the Carnival Fascination this morn. It's their very first cruise. They have been calling me with updates. I got a call a little while ago. When I answered they were yelling " I see the boat!!!" I told them I was happy for them and then explained that they see a ship :D They are going to call me when they step on the ship for the first time. I'm so excited for them, just had to share with someone.

I remember that feeling, we had to call everyone, and scream we are on the ship. Its so exciting you don't know what to do first, your running all over the ship thinking that you are going to miss something and want to see the entire ship within the first 30 minutes. Ya know we are kinda still that way when we go on a new ship, lol. Keep us updated it keeps us all going with excitement. We leave in three weeks on the Valor.

How cool is that?? You KNOW that their eyes will be buggin' out and jaws hangin' for quite a while.

You would think it was me getting on the ship. I told him that seeing it through their eyes will bring back memories of our first cruise. It's been six cruises so far for us and we still have a wonderful time but nothing's like getting on your first cruise ship.

Well, they may be in for an unexpected surprise.

There's a local Rock station hosting a group on this ship and there will be live bands. Of course, you can only join in the festivities if you booked with them at their outrageous prices.

 

So if they didn't, they get the pleasure of sharing the ship with a bunch of (probably) drunk, loud, crazed rock fans.

 

I wouldn't have a problem with that if I were also drunk, loud and participating in the festivities. It's just that large groups - anywhere - are a pain simply because of the inconveniece they cause everyone else (pool area being closed for their private concerts, etc).

 

Still, I hope they have a great time. And I hope the R-n-R folks don't do too much destruction to the ship. I want her in tip-top shape when I sail in a few weeks!

I love that first step across the threshold from the gangway onto the ship. It's like all the weights of the world are lifted off your shoulders!

The Fascination was my very first cruise too!! I remember when we pulled up to the dock and saw her....we were in total awe...I hope they have a great cruise!!

I agree with being able to "see" it through someone else's eyes... that's why I board early and stay near the door for a while... just listening to people as they board gives me those newbie shivers all over again.

My brother called about 12:30. They were on the ship and I can't say on here what his first words were but they were excited and amazed. I didn't tell them about the group that NCTribeFan posted about (thanks for the heads up though). I want them to experience the cruise without any influnece(sp?) from me telling them about it. I'm sure they'll still have the time of their lives. Now, waiting for at least one more call before they set sail. That's if they have time for me now that they are on the ship :rolleyes: :D

I remember that feeling! It was great. Our last cruise, we took our kids with us - so got the newbie feelings again with them. This time we are cruising with my friend and her two girls - (again newbies). I like being the one to show them something new and exciting. I'm so glad your brother and his girlfriend are enjoying themselves already.

I go thru that feeling everytime I see my ship. Then when you step on board I just have this AWE feeling.

 

On the Liberty last October we went up to the casino and just sat in one of the windows for about 20 minutes. Just taking it all in. Gosh what a feeling.

So fun... I can all but picture it. Under a month and I'll be having another FS myself. CANNOT WAIT (that was my favorite drink of the whole trip last time)

I can hardly wait til December when we take our 3 kids and 3 grandkids on the Imagination. 2 of the grandkids have been on Disney - but everyone else is going for the first time. I am excited to see it through their eyes. lol
