E1 or E3 on the Jewel..is there a difference?

We are doing the 11-night Panama Canal on the Jewel in March. My TA offered the choice of an E3 cabin on deck 7 (cabins 7574 and 7576) or E1 on deck 8 (cabins 8020 and 8022). This is my first cruise, so I have no idea which (or if either) are better. Is there a difference? What would you recommend we pick?

The interior of the cabins will be identical except that some have berths in the ceiling to accomodate three or four passengers if needed. Practically, the only difference is the location. A general rule of thumb is the higher the deck, the higher the price. Just pick the location you like the best and go with it. You'll have a great time. :)

The categories are the same size and everything, just on different decks. The E3 may be priced lower than the E1. I would go with the Deck 7 (Cat E3) staterooms as they are more midship. The ones offered to you on Deck 8 are located forward of the forward elevators. Not as convenient as midship, and you will experience more motion forward on a ship. Enjoy your Panama Canal cruise on the beautiful Jewel!

Hi Fozzycat -

I would go with the 8020, 8022. On the Jewel, Radiance, Brilliance and Seranade, the cabins on deck 7 - the E3s have the lifeboats directly under their balcony. This would not bother most people, but I just don't like looking down on the white lifeboat cover. Especially on the Panama Canal cruise. It even states on the website that they are "obstructed view". Go with the E1. Just my opinion.

Thanks. I was leaning towards deck 8 myself. Is the balcony on hump cabins bigger or is it just the picture? Cabin 8086 is available as well...

If you can get a hump balcony, take it. They are highly coveted. 8086 has a huge balcony so if it is available GRAB IT FAST!!
