Katyany Posted October 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Hi. I'm sailing the transatlantic in mid-November this time. I realize chances are the seas will be rough. However, has anyone ever had a smooth sailing at this time of year, or is the Atlantic always rough in November? Can I hope beyond hope for a relatively smooth ride, or just brace myself for the worst? Also, my dog will be on 12 deck, and I'm wondering how difficult it will be to walk around up there at this time of year. Thanks.
cruzadict Posted October 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2008 I am assuming that you are doing a westbound crossing. We did this late November a few years ago and the sea was like glass. Only day with a little motion, but nothing that bothered us, was the first day passing the Bay of Biscay.
eddiethekub Posted October 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2008 Was on a Westbound TA in Nov 2005....nary a ripple in the ocean. Very calm, no problems getting around the ship. Enjoy
Seachase20 Posted October 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2008 It's really the luck of the draw, weatherwise. Sometimes it can be really rough in November, sometimes, as others have said, like glass. Also these days the ship takes a slightly more southerly route, and has a bit of time in hand to go round bad weather if possible. Last time I sailed was this time of year, and it was flat calm, balcony weather the whole way across. Good luck!
