barbados Posted November 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2004 which is better for spending the day? why? how decent is mullins snorkeling? cost of taxi from pier to each? Crane’s is a wonderful beach to spend the day, but it’s not a snorkeling beach. It’s a boogie-board-wind-surfing beach with a strong undertow and large waves. The beach itself is outstanding, perhaps the best on the island. Mullins on the other hand is probably what you’re looking for. Nice beach, trees, lounges available, food, drink and the snorkeling is fair to good. It’s on the west coast, as is the pier. Taxi cost to Crane is about US$18-20 and it’s about 30-45 minutes away. Taxi cost to Mullins is about US$10-12 and it is about 15-20 minutes away from the dock. Prices are not per person, but for up to four (4) in the cab and are one-way fares. Have a wonderful time on whichever beach that you choose! :) Mullins Beach, Barbados
Geobugs Posted November 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2004 Our plans include: Crane Beach for a few hours, enjoying the view, the food, and the sand on the beach. Mullins Beach for a few hours, enjoying the snorkling for a time. Then Gun Hill Signal station for the beautiful sunset. But instead of 3 cab fares of $40 R/T, $24 R/T, and $20 R/T. We will use the reliable public buses of $3 x 3 trips.
Sarah Taylor Posted November 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2004 Hi There You might want to try Folkestone Marine Park in Hole Town. They have public facilities and the area is specialy roped off for snorkelers. :) I like snorkeling myself. A little North of Mullins you have a great chance of seeing the sea turtles if you are intrested in them :) Have a great time in Barbados:)
loisswanson Posted November 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2004 Definitely go over to Mullins Beach area for calm waters. Best place is at Folkestone Marine Park. This area is where all the excursions stop offshore for snorkeling. Lois
