Hi everyone...

We just got back yesterday from our first cruise... Fascination 11-1-08. 5 Day going to Nassau and Half Moon Cay.

It took me 13 years to talk DH into going on a cruise. I will give you a review later today. I don't want to keep you hanging but there is some stuff we have to do today. Like go to the grocery store... MAN am I starving this morning! It's from eating in the dining room every morning... we normally don't eat breakfast but boy did we while on this cruise....

So hang tight I will be back later today.... Can anyone tell me how to get my house to stop rocking??? :D Actually I love that the house is rocking. I wish it wouldn't stop!!!

give it a week. it will stop eventually. Ours house just quit rocking today. we got off last saturday.

Somewhere between ordering more DOD's and before we moved, Steve took a pic of me and the funnel. I don't know what it is but the funnel is my favorite thing to take pics of.

DSC_0031.jpg

So we're starting to move!! First we have to make a U-Turn. A big U-Turn. That was pretty cool! Slowly we saw the Dames Point Bridge coming closer and closer and closer....

closer...

DSC_0047.jpg

Time to see how close of a call we can have. There was someone with a microphone on the Lido deck telling everyone to see if we can make it... it may be too high....

DSC_0048.jpg

It's cutting it close!!

My mom and dad came back for sail away and went under the dames point bridge to watch. He video taped it. If you want to see it, he has it at this link: http://s358.photobucket.com/albums/oo27/Saito56/?action=view&current=e6882241.pbr It's funny because there's a couple of us that has watched us and you can hear me screaming.

We hung out by the funnel talking and having some DOD's and I was snapping pictures of all the troubles being left behind.

We had some company....

Cruisin down the St. John's river towards the wide open blue...

DSC_0060.jpg

We weren't even into the big blue yet.... bye bye Jax... I won't miss you... but you are giving me a good show right now!!

DSC_0061.jpg

By this time everyone cleared out of the Funnel Deck except for Flip Flop and her DH... we just hung out talking and I went camera happy. Once I finish the review and resize the pics I will give you a link to all of my pics if you want to see them. Like I said, I took over 500 and a lot are sunsets.

DSC_0062.jpg

So after a bit we decided we would take off. We went to walk around a bit and was happy we did the late seating because the early seating was eating already. We left a little late, but I can't remember what time we actually started moving. I was so excited we were moving and so was everyone else we were yelling! I didn't look at my watch. I grabbed my cell phone out of my pocket and turned that puppy OFF. SEE YAAAA... don't call me I'll call you when I'm ready... you're off to your own little cruise.... INSIDE THE SAFE!!! :D

We ended up in the Casino.... yea... we did that A LOT... we were hanging out playing the slots, walking around a bit and listening to all the noises with big grins on our faces.

SIDE NOTE TIME. Steve and I were married in Las Vegas. He was 18 and I was 21. So basically when we were there Steve got to play the slot machines but no table games because we were afraid he would get ID'd and then have them kick us out. At one point in Vegas Steve hit something in his slot but I didn't know what. We were playing on the low slots, you know kinda like table tops. Well, there was a crowd gathing around him... I was like.. ohhh crap.... STEVE.... STEVE... he wasn't answering.... STEVEN!!!! The cocktail waitress walks up smiling and looks over at the pit bosses heading his way and says to Steve.... Steve would you like another drink??!!?? And Steve says, yea the same... well... that saved Steve. The pit bosses didn't ask for ID and it wasn't too much money where he had to fill out papers. They handed him his cash and we were good to go... that waitress came back with the drink and winked at us.... yep she got a good tip! So that being said...

Steve loved the casino's onboard. He got to play blackjack. Which we did REALLY good in... and all the slots he wanted to. I tried Roulette but LOST big time... no luck for me on that one!!

Dinner was at 8:15 so we better go and get ready for dinner... so we take off for the room and get ready. We go to the dining room for the first night... a table for 10. Our table mates are really nice and laid back. One couple said that they were going to try to change to the early seating because they rather have it. We didn't see them after that night in the dining room but we saw them onboard a few times.

We met Charnel and Samson. Charnel was our head waiter and Samson his assistant. We fell in love with Charnel and Samson. They were the BEST. So funny, nice, sweet, I can't say enough about them... (ok I am tearing up here as I type this)

You see... when we booked the cruise I told DH that we had to dress a bit for the dining room. We're the t-shirt and shorts type of people. DH said no problem we'll get some dressy stuff. So I got some sundresses and DH got some dress shirts and dress shorts. I know I know big debate about this.... he was sitting the whole time and you couldn't even see his legs for cryin out loud... besides we saw tank tops. Anyway... We said we weren't going to do Elegant night but right before we left and I told Jama that lobster tails were only available then she wanted to go. So... I already had a nice outfit for dinner but DH didn't. So we had to go shopping last minute for a outfit. Khaki's and a dress shirt. No tie. He didn't look out of place at all. There were a few tux's but not a lot. What Steve wore seemed to be the norm. There were some very nice dresses on the ladies but not a TON of them. Anywhoo...

After the 1st night we KNEW we were going to be in the dining room every night. I really miss our guys and every time I think of them I tear up... I'll explain more as I get there... I loved them...

Samson was handing us our menu's for dessert and as he did he would say REAL fast.... Chocolate Melting Cake.... Yea.... I heard all about it... that's what I'm getting... I don't need to look at the menu... Most of us got it.

Here comes Charnel with our desserts... OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????????? THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samson was giggling at me and Steve... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mannnnnnn what I would do for some right now!!! Excuse me while I clean up my drool.... I'll be right back........

OK I'm back.... but I gotta run for now... I've got a poker game at a friends house tonight.... come on, it's been over 24 hours... time to go gamble again!!!

It depends on when we get home, I may type more then. If not tonight then tomorrow FOR SURE!!!

Thanks for all the kind words!! I appreciate it!! I'm trying to pay back for all the newbies that haven't gone yet. I loved reading reviews....

If anyone is going on the Fascination before February ask the Maitre' D for Charnel and Samson's table in the Sensation Dining room... you won't regret it... Samson told us jokes and tricks... Ohh geeezz... here I go again... I'll tell you all the little things he did... and how he had me crying the last night... I DO NOT cry easy... I was balling like a baby on this cruise the last night.... Man do I miss them and everything else :(

I'm back!!

I can't believe that I can't remember what I had for dinner that first night. I didn't take any pictures of food or menu's. The Fascination isn't hooked up for viewing the dinner menu or S&S cards on the TV's in the staterooms. I'm pretty sure I had the spinich lasagna for dinner. It was OK, a lot of spinich in it. I ate a little bit of it then started getting tired of it. I didn't ask for anything else I was already getting full. DH had the Flat Iron Steak. I think that's what they called it. It was GOOD. I had a bite. It was falling apart on the fork!

After dinner we headed back to change clothes. That's when I opened the door and screamed again like a little girl. MY FIRST TOWEL ANIMAL!!!!!

DSC_0067.jpg

I was snapping pictures of my new friend like he was a super model. I took 5 shots of him!! This is how we found him. I moved him to the edge of the bed in the pic above to get a little color behind him!

DSC_0069.jpg

So after his photo shoot I put him up on the ledge of the window. I was going to start my first towel animal family!

Arnel brought us our robes and hung them on the restroom door and brought us our capers for the next day. Steve started changing and I started scoping out the Capers for our FIRST fun day at sea!! What was I thinking? I had places to go and people to see! We had a 2nd meeting for our roll call outside of the Casino by the bar. So we changed and boogied outta the room to go meet the people who didn't make it to our first meeting at the funnel.

Guess what.... yep... we went into the casino... We hung out there for quite a bit and I went over to tell Steve I was going to see if anyone was over at the bar... No one with beads were there. I was late getting there, they could have left already... Boy does time go fast in that casino

Next thing I know I am looking at my watch...... WE MISSED THE WELCOME ABOARD SHOW! I was bummed. But it's OK we will get there on our next cruise.

We spent about a half hour more in the casino and then decided to go stroll around for a bit. We went into one of the Duty Free stores, then one of the jewelry store... ordered a couple more drinks... we were just taking it in. We went back up to the funnel and just watched the blackness of the sky and water. It was so peaceful up there... ahhhhh I was taking it all in!

I took some pictures of the Atrium too... so nice at night all lit up!

DSC_0070.jpg

Steve wanted to see the Putt Putt on the Sun Deck so we headed up there. We found the wind tunnel area up there.... GEEZ is that sucker blow you out of there when you leave!! It was cool.

And I took my first of many shots of the funnel at night.

DSC_0076.jpg

DSC_0077.jpg

Back to the cabin around 1am I think and try to get some sleep.

Fun Day at sea coming up!!

Keep it coming - what a great review!!! I feel like I am re-living my first cruise. My DH and I also missed the welcome aboard show on our first and they didnt do one on our second (CTN). So we finally showed up for one to see what it was all about - the next thing I new DH was up being called up onstage for a silly game that ended up also playing on the TVs all week. He made a complete fool of himself and by day 2 the entire ship knew us - everywhere we went. So watch where you sit at those welcome shows! :p

DH and I leave on the Fascination next week and we have never been on a cruise. This is a gift from my mother in law. I am so excited!!! Thanks for sharing and the pictures are great. I can't wait to read more. Do you know if there are any cheaper places to park in Jacksonville versus the port?

Before we went to sleep we ordered room service.... BLT please! I heard that they were good around Cruise Critic I told Steve about it and he wanted to try it. It was GOOD!

I set a wake up call and ordered a little bit from room service the night before. I have to have a little coffee in the morning to wake me up..... at home..... not on the ship! We woke up at 6am... geeeezz.. we got about 5 1/2 hours of sleep by the time we fell asleep. I was wide awake when I woke up... usually it takes me some time to get motivated... and usually Steve and I don't talk to eachother for about a half hour after we wake up... not on the ship... I was ready to rock and roll!

I forgot to mention that we were rocking the first night. Now I don't know what is a little and what is a lot. At dinner they said we were rocking more then normal. We were fine tho, no sickness. I was so paranoid before we left that I was going to get sick and have this cruise ruined. I bought Ginger and the sea bands. I also had some meds from when I had my wisdom teeth pulled in October that is also for Sea Sickness. I was SO glad I wasn't getting sick!

Our wake up call for 7:00 rang as we were getting dressed. 15 minutes later I hear a light knock on the door... room service!! We put a time down between 7:15 and 7:45. They were there right at 7:15. WOW! We had Coffee, I had a croissant and Steve had a bagel and cream cheese...

I called Jama to see if she was awake... she usually sleeps in until 10am. If she wasn't ready we were going to go hit the decks! She was awake! This was amazing! So she ordered her room service for 9am. She ended up calling and cancelling it. We headed up to the Lido to see what was happening. There were people EVERYWHERE already. All the chairs were taken by the pool and all around it. I started looking for chair hogs right away. I've read so much about them. There were about 5 chairs right by the pool that had towels, books, shoes, with no people in them. Not too bad I thought!

We went to the Coconut Grove Grill just to see it. We knew we were going to go to the Dining room this morning but we didn't make it to there the night before. It was bigger then I thought it would be. I love how the very aft of the ship has the Pizza, Deli, and bar. They have the best view there as they work!

Upstairs to breakfast in the Sensation dining room, which is our dining room for dinner. As we were walking up there's Christi and Heather going for breakfast too! Our party of 3 just grew to a party of 5... very cool! We walk up and who's standing there?? SAMSON!!!!! Of course we make a big deal of Samson standing there and he is all giggles. He was seating people this morning. Samson took us to our table and the 5 of us settled in with another couple that got to the table just before us.

On our cruise the "Mayberry" fan club was onboard. We were super excited about this because we love the Andy Griffith Show. The couple that was sitting with us was part of that group. So we asked a few questions about that. Very cool!

Breakfast... one of the best omlettes I have EVER had! So light and fluffy! I also got the hashbrowns. Before we got our food they have pastries. I got another croissant. They're GOOD!

We ate and enjoyed eachothers company and then we were off! We had muster to do today... which I still found this really wild that we hadn't done this yet. As a newbie I had no idea what to do if the alarms went off. I read the back of our door and I knew that our muster station was.... guess where...... right outside of the casino!! DOH!! I have that covered. I know right where that's at!

Anywhoooo.... Steve wanted to go back to the casino so we did. This is when he met his FAVORITE slot machine. That sucker kept spitting credits at him left and right. Our casino host... I'm sorry but I don't know his name... was from Australia... he was announcing that in 15 minutes they were going to shut down the casino for muster. So Steve stopped playing his slot and we cashed out. Down to Empress deck for our life vest's and back up to the area outside the casino for muster.

We were sitting there a few minutes on one of the benches looking outside and FlipFlop and her DH came walking up to join us. We talked before muster started. The vest's were like BRAND NEW. I've read before that they can be stinky. Quick and painless... it took about 5 minutes and we were free to go!

Steve thought it was actually comfy with the life vest on and leaning back on the window. That's Jama next to him... I always get her with her mouth open in pics!

DSC_0083.jpg

And a horrible pic of me...

DSC_0085.jpg

So Steve was saying before muster that he wanted to go back to his slot after muster. I told him that I would take the vest's back down to the room and meet him up there. So I did that and came back... Tamika found us in the casino... she's one of our table mates at dinner. She put a $1 slug in a $1 slot and won $75. That was her very first try of the slots this cruise... they slots were paying out today!!

We hung out there for a bit, went back up to see the wide open ocean and bummed around again until 1pm when they were having their first Slot Tourney. We met Punki there. We had planned to do the tourney together.

That was fun and I was on the board for the finals... until I got bumped off. Oh well it was cool to do! Bingo anyone... we tried our luck at bingo at 3pm... there was no luck there. (I'm cheating and looking at my Capers to try to remember what we did)

We missed the hairy chest contest... but we saw it on the TV in our stateroom... Also the Water Wars.... We were still bumming around. We found our pics form embarkation and dinner the first night.

Back to the casino YET AGAIN... it was funny... Steve went back to his favorite slot and kept saying, I'm not addicted... leave me alone.... GIVE ME SOME QUARTERS!! I was so glad he was having fun. I could already see that we had another cruise in our future!

I don't know what we did for sure before dinner I know we went up to take pictures

DSC_0091.jpg

DSC_0092.jpg

And we went back up to the wind tunnel

DSC_0094.jpg

DSC_0098.jpg

.... before we knew it, it was time to get changed for dinner. Tonight is Cruise Elegant night and the Captains reception. We didn't go to the Captain's reception. Next time we will tho. Off to the dining room...

I was excited to go see our guys. There they are waiting for everyone as the dining room opened with the big smiles on their faces. As soon as we walk up to our table there they were pulling out our chairs, putting our napkin on our lap and handing us a menu with BIG smiles on their faces. Asking us if we had a good day and if we were having fun.

What's for dinner tonight... I think it was the steak for me... I am so surprised I can't remember it in order. I usually have a GREAT memory! I have no idea what Steve had.

Dessert time... Samson says... Chocolate melting cake?!?! I said... hmmm lemme see the menu.... Bitter n Blanc, eh? I've gotta try it even tho I wanted the Chocolate melting cake. It was good, but I LOVED the Melting cake.... I stuck with it for the rest of the cruise. The night we had Tiramisu Jama and I ordered one of those just to try it. It was good but like I said... I'm a chocolate melting cake girl now!! Tonight everyone who didn't order it last night got it.... ohhhh yea... we were all hooked on it!

Here's some more pictures from the Verandah deck looking down at the Lido pool. No big water slides yet but there is one slide.

DSC_0106.jpg

This is during the early dinner you can see the Lido was clearing out. On the Verandah deck there are 2 ping pong tables... they had comp's in the capers for adults. There are 2 hot tubs here... one is under the slide.

DSC_0107.jpg

This is the pool Aft on the Verandah Deck. One pool in the middle and 2 hot tubs. It looks like a Mickey Mouse head and ears! In the pic on the left side you will see some nets. There is volleyball and a basketball hoop that's inclosed with nets. There were adults and kids in there during the cruise.

Want to talk about kids for a second? We don't have any, we don't want any... there were a few kids onboard... all very well behaved. I never saw a parent yelling or raising their voice at their children. They were always walking and never running. They were all polite. Steve and Greg ended up playing volleyball later with a group of kids... they were all good kids they said.

Here's the kids pool on the Promenade Deck all the way Aft.

DSC_0109.jpg

See the windows on the Aft of the ship just above the pool? That's where the Pizza, Deli and bar is. Sorry if you already know this, just giving info for anyone that hasn't been on her yet. I have no idea if this is the same for every ship.

DSC_0117.jpg

This is just outside of the Coconut Grove Bar and Grill... Nice view while eating!

On the lido deck... here's the stage... they were getting ready to start making repairs. They were curtaining off sections with yellow tarps. They were re-grouting I guess you could call it between the wood planks. Then they sanded it down. The next morning all of the tarps were gone and you could see where they had sanded. It looked good as new.

More pics of the Atrium at night. This was on Cruise Elegant night.

Introducing the BEST dining room guys there is.... Charnel on the left and Samson on the right.... man do I miss them!!

DSC_0127.jpg

Blinking lights.... This is what I read about, I know it... the guys are all starting to line up... another photo op....

DSC_0129.jpg

Yep.... they're singing to us.... how cool this is... I didn't tell Steve or Jama about this part, I wanted it to be a surprise. They were surprised and loved it. Jama wished she had her cam corder with us but that's ok. She got the rest of their shows on tape. Our Maitre 'D grabbed the microphone and talked to us. He told us our little secret word for our Sensation dining room and asked if we were all enjoying our meal. Of course he got a big round of applause. He spoke for a little bit and then the song began... it was great!

I know this is a little out of order but I was flipping thru my pics and found them.

OK so after Chocolate melting cake they sang and we said our Goodnight's and the see you tomorrow's.

Off to our stateroom to get changed into something more comfy for more bumming around the ship and YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY my second towel animal!!! Another little girl scream from me and time for my 2nd's photo shoot!!!

DSC_0132.jpg

Isn't he SO CUTE? I loved EVERY towel animal... such a cute puppy!

I took 7 pictures of this guy.... look at his little puppy butt! Awwww... CUTE!

DSC_0134.jpg

I won't bore you with all 7 of the pictures! Steve went to grab our new addition to add to our family but first I had to tell him to BE CAREFUL, don't HURT HIM!! I know, I'm a dork!

Time to change.... we've got a show tonight... Hey Mambo!!

Of course I didn't get any pictures of this because it's not allowed. It was a good show. They had a lot of costume's and a lot of songs. They were good singers and dancers. We had fun. They had one part with a bunch of Gloria Estefan's songs. (Sorry Gloria, I probably spelled that wrong)

After the show we ran into Flip Flop and DH... we ended up hanging out with them and Jama went back to her room. We went to the Passage to India Bar and listened for a bit to the band. MAN is this girl Good! Such a strong voice... AWESOME... if you're going on the Fascination go check her out. She sings it all... she's got a kinda rock tone to her voice... She takes request's.

Steve wanted a picture by the elephant.... The DOD's were kicking in... ohhh I forgot to mention what the DOD was..... it was the uhhh ohhhh... I tore that part of the capers off... What was it? Goombay Smash or something like that... of course it was GOOD! YEA... here's the effects of those Goombay's.....

DSC_0140-1-1.jpg

So after we hung out in the "Elephant Bar" we headed down to Flip Flop's stateroom. They brought some Rum Runners and offered us a drink. So we headed down to their room. They had an interior room. One of the ones that is sideways. It was kinda wierd in there. The head of the bed isn't against the wall. But it was the same size. It was still a nice room.

After we got a drink from there... THANKS GUYS!!! We went back up and headed over to the Puttin on the Ritz" for the comedian R rated version. His name is Tony Esposito. Being a Chicago Blackhawk fan I thought that was pretty cool. He was funny. He talked about cruising for a bit. He also told us at the end of his show that he was getting off when we got to Nassau tomorrow and was going home. There was going to be a new comedian getting onboard in Nassau. After the show Steve wanted to get one of his CD's so we talked to him for a bit. He lives in Jacksonville too. He's been on Comedy Central before. Sometimes he performs at our local comedy club. We'll have to look for him! I wonder why he just didn't come all the way back to Jacksonville?

After the show more bumming around and we ended back in our stateroom around 2am I think.... something like that. Nassau was tomorrow, we need to try to get some sleep even tho we were still pumped up and excited. Steve fell asleep within about 15 minutes. I was checking out the TV watching what we missed... hairy chest... newlywed... etc... Trevor, our our cruise director seemed FUNNY!! I still haven't seen him anywhere... oh well maybe someday we'll bump into him.

I finally fell asleep.... and woke up to Nassau outside my window!!

Welcome to Nassau!!

We got some coffee and toast for room service this morning...

Ohhh yesterday for lunch was Rueben's and pizza... very good...

OK back on track....

We had our room service.... we woke up at 6am again automatically... 3 1/2 hours roughly of sleep. Waited for Jama to call, which she surprised us again... she was up right around the same time as us... after all she did go to bed early.... around 11:30!

We went out of our stateroom and bummed around a bit then made our way to the dining room. Look who's here!!! Charnel!! He took us to our table. I know I should have tried something different for breakfast but I loved those omlette's... Ham and Cheese omlette, hasbrowns and sausage please!! Ohh yea, more coffee!

After we ate we headed up to the Sports deck for pictures. The Valor was here! YAYYY!! I snapped a couple of pics of her. Steve was excited to see her sitting there. They have Seaside Theatre and he REALLY wants to go on a ship now that has it. The picture was CRYSTAL clear and we could hear it from 2 slips over.

DSC_0141.jpg

This was the first time I have ever seen water like this. SO blue and clear. It was BEAUTIFUL! I was excited to see it!

Ohhh ohh... here comes a ship! What is that?? Is that what I think it is?? Yep... it's Disney!!

DSC_0145.jpg

It was cool watching her do a u-turn to back into the dock.

Can you see what's painted on the bow? Steamboat Willy? Old style Mickey... very cool!

DSC_0151.jpg

Well we decided we better head down. There were going to be a bunch of people getting ready to get off of that Disney Ship. We were waiting for our own ship to clear out before we went down!

We head down, walk off the ship and them BAM.... BAM... smile for the birdy... we took our first getting off and there was another guy in costume. Steve walked right by him but I stopped to take a picture. It ended up being a good one that Steve wanted so we got that one... see ya never know when pictures are going to turn out good!

We're heading over to town and who do we see? Flip Flop and DH. They were going on the Party boat... we talked to them for a bit and headed down the dock to town. As we got to the Aft of Disney I started my spazing out thing I did while onboard... check THIS out!!

DSC_0154.jpg

Isn't that the CUTEST???

As we were walking to town I got to hear it!! Disney blew their horn!! I've heard it on you tube but it was AWESOME to hear it in person. It's so cool!

We got mobbed of course... taxi here... taxi there... hair braids... taxi.... water taxi.... hair braids... it was worse then Mexico... I use to live in Corpus Christi and I've been there 1001 times... this was WAY WORSE... oh well, it's not going to bother me at all.

We head over to the water taxi for Atlantis. We didn't book anything thru Carnival. Our plans was to go to Atlantis on our own. I'm glad we did. We got to take our time and do what we wanted. After we got off of the water taxi we could see we had a bit of a walk in store for us. There was a taxi van and he said... Aquarium? $1 per person... you got it!! We hopped in with 2 other couples and headed over. It's cool driving on the "wrong" side of the road!!

OK gonna hop in the shower, I've been sitting here all morning... I will be back with Atlantis pictures!

Am I getting long winded, do you guys want me to get more "straight to the point" ? Let me know!!

Diane... I looked at it and told Steve... how hot is it going to be? The only thing he said was... it's gonna be hot and 7 days? Only one day off before work... I dunnnooooo... I can tell he's thinking about it tho! I told him, Tom (the owner of his company) would let you take a extra day off AND you're SALARY!!! lol

OK guys... Steve wants to go to the store in a bit so I will get as much as I can done before he wants to head out... Atlantis...

I took the usual pictures as we were heading out on the water taxi... ya know the one of that one house everyone takes a picture of. Our guide told us that Nicholas Cage and someone else lives in the houses near there. I don't know if it's true. He pointed out the hospital where Anna Nicole was... a lot of moans out of the group on that call...

Here is a picture of all the ladies taking a rest...
