Sonyac Posted November 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Hi Everyone, Having a bit of a rocky time, seas are not as calm as they could be, very, very windy up on the Lido deck when I was doing the Ceramics @ Sea but below the rockiness is felt also and I'm currently in the internet cafe! A lot of people have been skipping stuff due to feeling very under the weather. The casino closed at 1:30am this morning due to low numbers. So far food in the buffet has been fantastic, all food being of very good quality. Fruit in the room on arrival was a nice touch as was the invite to today's Meet and Greet. Hopefully will be well enough to enjoy the Karaoke tonight but am taking the ginger tablets regularly to combat the effects of a rough ride. Haven't seen any sign of Zoltina-J apart from on tv. Have done some shopping on board and there were plenty of P & O souveniers as they had restocked everything. For those of you on a budget many things may seem a little pricey, ceramics @ sea was $22 for my mug. Upstyles for formal night are $55 so be prepared to spend more than usual if you want those luxuries. Some other things not included in the price of your ticket are some of the aerobics classes (up to $15), the sundae bar, pizzeria and the steakhouse which is now $35 for dinner. Until next review, seeya! :D

waterwheel Posted November 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Hi Sonya, thanks for the info. When the ship is moving there is always (almost always; without getting too techo) a 20 knot breeze on deck (roughly 37 kmh). The Dobbies with you on this trip? After the first day or so you will hardly notice the motion - enjoy the rest of the cruise. Regards Graham

Sonyac Posted November 9, 2008 Author #16 Share Posted November 9, 2008 Hi Everyone, Feeling a little sheepish about the price I put up for the steakhouse. :o Turns out it is only $25 but as we are yet to try it, we don't know how they taste. Tonight is formal night so I get to dress up for the occasion. Not sure if I want to wear the more glam outfit tonight or tomorrow night as yet, will decide later. Ordered wrist corsages for the formal nights at $12 each, figured as I wasn't getting my hair done that I would spend a little on an accessory. Mr and Mrs Dobbie were at bingo yesterday, have photos and will post once we get back, we didn't win although we got close on the last game so we are going to try round 2 today where the amount has jackpotted to $2400. Went to karaoke last night and it was great, lots of good voices, a couple not so good :D Enjoyed the entertainment and the guy who was on guitar in the Bengal Bar has a very nice voice. We had a couple of ballroom dancers get up and dance to his songs, it was lovely to watch them sashay (sp?) around the dance floor. Finally got my sea legs after much water and food. Still taking the ginger tablets but can walk around to the higher decks and not feel seasick. Only feel it when I am at the front of the ship. If I lie down for a while I tend to feel better. DH went to see the comedian last night and he said that the guy was good but not amazing, here's hoping the 18+ one tonight is better. The 50s rock n roll trivia was a little hard for me, had to name the tune and artist according to the cd and it was a little difficult. Didn't go to the theme night as I wasn't feeling up to par, so stayed in the Bengal Bar. Going to the Cruise Fair today to sample the food and go into the cake decorating competition in the Dome. DJ in the Dome is good. Had meet and greet yesterday. Scott and Ash didn't show but everyone who gave me a definite that they were coming turned up and we got to know each other. Met Fabio and went on the galley tour this morning, wow, what a huge area, it was very fascinating to learn how the kitchen worked, we even got to sample some chocolates! Had a group photo yesterday too which I will purchase and post when we get back too. :D Tried the $5 grill late last night and boy were the hotdogs good!!! You got a hotdog with ingredients in little bowls to make up yourself and a massive amount of french fries on the side. Very reasonable price for those who get hungry after drinking a lot of alcohol lol. I haven't drunk any alcohol whilst on board, have stuck to clear fluids thanks to my stomach. Eating in the Palm Court Dining Room tonight so I will tell you what that is like. :D Looking forward to the t-shirt painting in the afternoon also, it is $15 and you get to take the t-shirt home. DH went in the poker tournament and came second winning $135 and then has also withdrawn from the poker machines another $160. He has been a very lucky boy. :D Noumea is tomorrow so will let everyone know what that is like also. Until next update,
