Palma - bike rental near port?

We've read a great deal about renting bikes in Palma De Mallorca, the ship offers a tour for $50 each, and you get only the bike, helmet and a map.:eek: Has anyone rented a bike at or near the port?

Last summer we were on Voyager of the Seas and did the Biking in Palma tour. The bike rental is a short walk from the pier and we were given a bike, helmet but then went with a guide. It was a wonderful way to see Palma. I am not sure we would have been able to cover as much ground without a guide. The area around the pier has quite a bit of traffic and in the city was VERY crowded with pedestrians so much so that we had to walk the bikes. We really did enjoy biking as a change of pace from all the walking and riding we had done in the other ports.

Thanks for the information, there are four of us so we may still try to rent on our own, riding instead of walking does sound like a nice change. The info on the traffic will give us something to think about. We're going over Thanksgiving so maybe there will be fewer pedestrians/tourists to run over.:rolleyes:

We really did enjoy biking. Just outside of the pier is a hill that will add to the excitement and challenge. The bikes were in good shape and had different gears to shift to help with the hills. We drove past the harbor and then into the city. I think it will be a fun trip. Even if you get lost...think of the fun reliving it all.

We leave Wednesday to Rome and cruise leaves Sunday, I'll let you know how the bike thing works out, Kids 17 and 13 are looking forward to this adventure.
