anyone been around islands?

mayor island,white island,alderman islands memory island and hole in the wall passage? are some of these volcanic?

If you are referring to Mayor Island & White Island in the Bay of Plenty, yes. While cruise ships don't land there White Island is normally cruised past. Mayor Island is not known to be active but White Island is an active volcano and visitors there are normally issued with a hard hat and a gas mask. A visit to either island would normally have to be arranged through an authorized agent. The Rotorua Taupo region has volcanic origins and if you visit there you will see plenty of geo thermal activity, boiling mud pools, hot springs, steam rising from the ground near the road side etc.
