I will be doing it in 2 weeks and will report back after that. It has a website, but you sure don't find much if anything at all about it in any guide book, and I have perused just about every book on Costa Rica!

How was it? We are leaving in 5 days and would like to know if it is worth it?

We just returned from the Veragua Rainforest and it was BEYOND FABULOUS!!!!! We booked through Charlie Soto and we had Ray as our guide and Stayton as our driver, just the four of us!!! It is a VERY bumpy ride getting there but OH SO worth it! The facility is state of the art! The tram drops 300 feet to the bottom of the rain forest where there is about a mile of wooded boardwalk through the forest and also 350 steps you can go back up to the top OR take the tram! They have a frog sancturary and a butterfly area that are a MUST SEE!!! Make sure it's included!!! Then they serve you a nice lunch which consists of fresh fruit, a sandwich, chips and a drink! They also have zip lines but we didn't do that part! It was an amazing day and our favorite port!!!! Don't miss the handicraft tents close to the ship, great prices and nice merchandise! Nancie

We also booked OkeyDokey Tours through Charlie Soto and had another Charlie as our personal guide (there were 5 of us) and we were treated like family. We even got to meet Charlie's family and pass through a residential area to not only see where locals live but to get a good snapshot of the ship in port. We went to Veragua Rain Forest followed by the Tortuguero Canal (all arranged by them). There was lots of wildlife to be seen in the rain forest as well as the canal. The Veragua facility although unique had a bit of a Disney quality to it, but certainly serves the purpose of being able to see the species of frogs, butterflies, birds, snakes, etc. in a safe environment and in our limited time. The other advantage of Veragua is its proximity to Puerto Limon (only about an hour away) so you don't have to spend the whole day traveling.

It sounds like a similar itinerary especially if it also includes the Tortuguero Canal. However, you will get so much more out of it going with a smaller group and with a private guide and driver. With Okeydokey tours you can custom-make your day and if you want to stop to go to the bathroom for example, you don't have to feel like your imposing on others. It sounds like it's worth the extra few dollars to go with a smaller group.
