I am either doing that or Paradise Island for the day, all inclusive. Is something wrong with Breezes? I just wanted to see what they have to offer and I can't locate them directly, only opinions on the boards. Just want to compare apples to apples.

We went (on a day pass) last July and personally hated it.......

pools were gross..............full of sand and slimy water.......food was weird.....corned beef and cabbage,turkey,spaghetti,knockwurts,salads,etc.... ...strange combos

It just wasnt a clean looking place........nothing at all like the pics you see online or on TV..........

Only ones that might like it are 20 yr olds that just want to drink,drink,drink........

Of course, this is all my opinion..............but I am glad we "wasted" that $110 and not more by booking it for a weeks stay............

Thank you for the feedback. So, should I direct my attention to the Paradise Island Day Pass in your opinion? The person I am going with wants to drink for the day, and I just want to relax by a beach/pool (we are going on the 9th of December). Do you know anything about the Paradise Island day pass? Or, should I surpass everything and go to the Wyndham for their day pass? We did that last year, and had the whole beach (and casino) to ourselves

Well I travel to many resorts and although Breezes was getting some ""iffy""" reviews... the pool was spotless, clean pool area and surroundings and the staff were the best and helpful in my eyes. It was not crowded... the beach was gorgeous....food was as good as can be expected for an AI.... overall we had a great time for the $$$. GREAT DRINKS too possibly due to the fact that we found a bartender that with a little monetary encouragement, provided us some primo service !

Like I said,it was my opinion and to each, his own..........

spotless pool, huh?? Gorgeous beach?? Thinking maybe all THOSE drinks you had impaired your judgment some.......;):p

OP-----I know you did a search and you can see I wasnt alone ........as far as Paradise Island,I dont know...........but I have heard alot of good reviews about the Wyndham........did you enjoy it?

I did enjoy it, but was with different people who were beach people. The person I am going with now is not a beach person, but will deal with the beach if there is an endless supply of free drinks. I didn't want to go back to the same place, was just looking to try something else this time around.

Hopefully I will get some more reviews from some more posters before I leave.

Thanks for your replies

Hmmm we were pretty set on Breezes.....maybe we should switch gears???? Now I'm really confused. It says that the trapez, trampoline/sailing/rock climbing is included in the day rate as well as all you can drink and eat. I thought the younger folks with us would really enjoy all the activities offered. Can anyone that has been there recently elaborate on this before we spend alot of money (Mom and Dad , which is me and my DH are footing the bill as part of their Christmas gifts) we thought it would be a great day in the Bahamas since we have done the Atlantis and strawmarket and senior frogs thing so much before. Help !! I need to know soon as we will be on the Monarch on December 19th!

I wouldn't do the Paradise island Day Pass. It's for the Paradise Island Harbour resort and it's a dump. The tiny beach is on the harbour and surrounded by a rusted fence filled with debris. You towel will stick to your chaise, the pool usually has a sandy bottom and the hot tub is slimey.

Booze is not name brand and the buffet is no better than Denny's.

Only saving grace is the bar grill which has decent burgers.

Wyndam is probably a good idea.

If you are thinking that these activites will be at your disposal when you arrive, think again. They are only available on a schedule, and only when enough people sign up for them. Some days there are no activities except Bingo or Trivial Pursuit.

Occupancy rates are way down... and staff are either being let go or on short schedules.

If you want to sit on the beach and pop back and forth to the bar for drinks.. then this is the place.

It's old... needs to be refurbished.. but it will do the trick if all you want is to relax and drink.

Unfortunately, the economic downturn has hit the bahamas hard. All resorts are hurting, and all have had to let go staff and reschedule activities.

Thanks for the feedback scubagirl. One more question if I may (I hear you live in Nassau). If I do a day pass at the wyndham, is it possible to walk/run down the beach back to port? I figured it would be about 8 miles, but curious if you know about how far and if it's possible?

No, the beach disappears at many points along the way. Cable Beach is probably on a mile or so long.. Then private home and no beach..

I wouldn't attempt to run on the roadway.. sidewalks are non existant most of the way back to Nassau. If there is a sidewalk.. it's in disrepair.

Grab a jitney, and save the running for the ship.

thanks scubagirl, I would hate to spend all that money on 9 of us total and be disappointed!! What is your suggestion? We have 9 that we would be paying for and thought it would be better to go to a resort from like 12-6pm?? all inclusive intrest us since it includes drinks and food and that can be fairly costly otherwise. We are open to suggestions at this time, if you actually live there I trust your judgement.

Would appreciate any direction you could give us. Our youngest is 18 (she thinks she is 30 thought lol) and our oldest traveling with us is 25.

If free drinks are important, then Breezes would be sufficient. The beach is fine. It's just that the activities are usually not available. You can still use the pool, have lunch and unlimited alcohol.

There are no other all inclusives that I could recommend.

Not sure of your timeing.. but it gets dark early in the bahamas in the winter. By 4:30 the sun is gone and things are cooled down for the evening.

I have read many mixed reviews about the Breezes also. However, for the price, 10 of us from Minnesota will be spending the week there come February 14th. Vacations are what you make of them I agree, we are all about the sun, beach, food and drinks. Parasailing, snorkling and jetskiing are pluses too for the younger ones.

Otherwise, more possitive reviews were read than negatives. My daughter and I will be on the Monarch of the Seas January 5th, and one of our stops is Nassau - can you guess what we will be checking out while we are there?

Take a chance on it - it's all what you make of your day and how you want to spend it. You only live once, so enjoy it.....I know we will, no matter what they throw at us. Breezes, here we come.:D

How is the snorkeling at any of these facilities, with a name like scubagirl i'm guessing you'll know?

Ron

Snorkeling from shore is nearly nonexistent in nassau/Paradise Island. Overuse and construction has destroyed the nearby reef systems.

There's a few rocks near the sheraton that have some juvenile fishes, but beyond that you'll need to do a boat tour. You can do one of the tours off the ship, or the Flying Cloud (www.flyingcloud.info) or seahorse (seahorsesailingadventures.com) or a snorkeling shop like Stuart Cove (stuartcove.com)

There's a small snorkeling operation at the nearby Hilton.. runs about $40 pp.

I was there a week ago today (the Wyndham), and I asked them about a day pass and they told me they weren't selling them and that I was free to use their facilities for no charge for the day. They appeared to be doing some construction, but mentioned a re-grand opening that they were preparing for. The day I was there it wasn't very hot and only about 10 people on the beach, the pool was closed. HTH

We went to Breezes on a day pass last year, and loved it. It was exactly what we had expected so maybe that is part of it. There was food, as much alcohol as we wanted, a nice pool, a hot tub, not many people, inside actcivites - like ping pong and pool.

It was perfect to sit on the beach for 6 hours drink and eat...and not really care about much. I think it is a great place for people worried about the money they may spend on food and alcohol.... then again we didn't go there to snorkel or sail or do the trapeze.... so have no input on that....

We are going again to Breezes this January for a day on another short cruise....

Also, found the staff very nice and pleasant... My husband loved the fact that they had a slection of whiskey and vodka... not like some other places that only offered one choice....

Have fun whatever you decide!

Alicia
