We just got back from the Navigator yesterday and did a tour with A-Z Jamaica Planners in Jamaica. It was wonderful. Georgeen met us at the pier and Mickey was our tour guide. The tour consisted of the 3 of us and our guide. Mickey will personalize the tour to what you want to do. We did Dunns River Falls early (no lines and no crowds). Mickey held our bag and followed us on the steps along side of the falls. He gave us good advice and great information on Jamaican culture and people. We also went to a pottery factory, local shopping, Fern Gully and river tubing. It was a phenomenal day thanks to Mickey and A-Z Jamaica Planners. If you are looking for a very personalized tour, I would recommend A-Z Planners.

Fern Gully can you tell me more about it? Is it like a park?:confused:

We drove through Fern Gully, which was about a 3 mile drive through tall fern trees and banana trees. The road was a former river bed and it is believed that there is still water under the road. It was a nice drive and the scenery was beautiful, but I would not make a special trip to go there. The highlights of our tour were definitely the falls (a lot of fun) and river tubing.

We were in Jamaica on Monday, November 1st. Oscar met us at the pier, and even though we had a very full itinerary and some people you could hardly pull away from the shops, Oscar made sure we saw everything we came to see! He got us a wonderful guide up the falls (also early in the day), and took us to the Wassi Art Pottery Factory, Shaw Park Gardens, Sun Island Factory Outlet, Fern Gully, and Prospect Plantation. And of course he made sure we got back to the ship on time. We even had a little time left over for a quick trip to Island Village.

 

Since we were running short on time, he took us to a local shop where we got Patties for lunch. They were great! I think the name of the place was Juici Beef Patties. If you're short of time and need a quick lunch--this is the place to go!

 

We met Georgeen at Dunn's River Falls, and Belinda met us at Sun Island. It was a great day--we'd love to do it again!

 

Oh, and for those worried about the vendors at Dunn's River Falls--they've cleaned up the place. Oscar said this happened about a week before we came. They still try to get you to buy (not as aggressive as in Labadee), but there aren't any sleazy people wandering around offering you drugs.
