My seven year old son wants to know if he'll be able to buy candy on the ship. Does anyone know if and where candy is sold on the ship? TIA

Happy Sailing!!

I think there are a few selections in the gift stores. No gum though!

If your pocketbook is small...you may want to bring your own instead of buying. Expensive!

You can also buy some candy at the different ports. That's always fun because it is sometimes labeled differently.

With all the free ice cream and cookies you can eat, I don't need any extra candy on the ship.

I don't need candy but the DS can't live without it! That's a great idea about buying it in the different ports!! He's going to have his own spending money and I'm predicting that's where some of it will go!

This post gave me a great idea for gifts for my kids and nieces and nephews. I know they will eat the chocolate, but saving the wrappers is a great idea that I am sure they would love. Along with a wide array of T-shirts!

When ever we travel, I bring back little jelly jars from hotels, sugar packets, candy, etc. and my children have taken them to school over the years along with foreign money, magazines and newspapers.
The souvenirs are usually written in Spanish. My high schooler recently took in a bunch of stuff for his Spanish class.

Just a little word to the wise, be careful of foreign candy (especially in Mexico)...US regulations are pretty strict but in other countries they still use lead in the food coloring...I didnt know this until my mom moved to Mexico and told me to make my kids stay away from the candy (and the water)!

Maybe should stick to brand names we know -- even if written in foreign language. Mexican regulations are very different from US. I recall some years ago going to a drugstore there for some cold medicine. The Pharmacist gave me some Chloromycetin -- a powerful antibiotic Parke-Davis drug that had killed a number of people. The drug is still in use but very carefully prescribed.(I was a drug analyst at the time and was familiar with it).

Thanks for the warning, Gene! When I was in Lisbon and got sick, when I was well enough to get out of bed we went to a drug store to fill a prescription (the hotel did a couple of runs for us before I could get out). Luckily the doctor had written the Rx in Portuguese but had described what I was supposed to have. Luckily, even with the language differences, I got the right thing -- I could tell because the doc had shown me a sample.

Never thought about the candy since I don't eat it myself, but never drink the water, even here at home! It would still be fun to have the wrappers, even if you don't eat the stuff, tho.
