Hi guys..I have a question on unused OBC..When I do my final settlement and lets say that there is some OBC which has not been used by me . Will it get credited back to my credit card or is it mandatory that I have to use all of my OBC??

We sailed on the Dawn in the end of October. I had purchased $600 of obc through the bon voyage gifts to cover excursions, service charges, etc. When I called them they said the only thing you cannot use them for are casino. Once on board we were told we couldn't even use them for the daily service charge, I complained and that was fixed immediately.

On the last day our invoice showed $52.98 balance.

There were some minor issue with the The On Board Credit Desk, 1st we were told it was going to be refunded in cash, then back onto my credit card. And then that it was non-refundable. Upon complaining to an accounting officer we were assured use we would receive a check in the mail in 2-4 weeks.

It had officially been 1 month, so I called customer service, and they first showed no record of it. After about 20 minutes on hold they found it. And they "don't know why it wasn't refunded immediately" but they are now sending a check in 7-10 days and I have a reference number.

One other note about obc, they don't show up on your account immediately once on board. We sailed on a Sunday, they posted on Monday. So every time we used our card on Sunday, it was a huge hassle with the restaurant and lounge staff having to call accounting for approval.

I know some folks want to get money into their account in advance so they do not have to pay it later. There must be a better way. No way in h - e - l - l do I want MY MONEY sitting with them in advance. If you need to save money, buy Travelers Cheques or something. Put it in another account. But don't give it to the cruiseline.
