lv2cruz80 Posted April 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2004 We're flying in to San Juan one night prior to our cruise next February. We''ll be arriving late and will probably spend the next day sightseeing before getting on the ship. What's a good hotel that we can stay in just for the purpose of sleeping? We want something that's nice but we don't need resort amenities. We would also like it to be convenient to the pier. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=02> <param name="day" value=14> <param name="hour" value=17> <param name="minute" value=00> </applet>
doree Posted April 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Check out www.canariohotels.com There are 3...friends stayed at the "by the sea" one...not fancy, but clean and included a continental bfast and I think it ran about $120/nt. There are 2 others which look nice on the website. They are small hotels and are fine for a nights sleep. Some have elevators..others dont, if that is a necessity. Pier is NOT far from any of the hotels...about 10 min.
judyfssw Posted April 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2004 May I suggest that before you go sightseeing, you check onto the ship, get all of the embarkation things taken care of, and then go sightseeing. Our friends do that and like knowing thair stateroom number ahead of time. StefanieMS Posted April 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2004 You can get a room on priceline (resort) for less than you would pay for a standard hotel in San juan. Check out biddingfortravel.com first to help you bid. Also the the Wyndham old san juan is right across the street from the pier. A great location! Fang Posted April 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I have cruised several times from San Juan. My family is going over Thanksgiving this year. We stay at the El San Juan Hotel and Casino. It is a wonderful hotel. Fantastic pool and there is a Palm Steakhouse that is great. Be careful because some of the tourist hotels are not in the best areas of town. garykool81 Posted April 6, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I just returned from San Juan and stayed in the Miramar neighborhood at a place called...Hotel Miramar. Creative, huh? Their prices are good. We paid $120 per night WITH taxes and other fees built it. Base price I think was only $90 per night or something like that. It's billed as a three star hotel, but it's also a botique style property, so it shows it's age. We found it "charmingly" old, though, and were pleased. It was clean and in a safe area.
