Freedom delay: Searching for overboard monkey!!

OK, so let me get this straight.. Youhe people are angry at someone who might've slept through the announcements (have done it many times myself) but you're not angry at the MOE-RONS (intentionally misspelled for emphasis) who left a giant inflatable monkey unsecured on a balcony? I'm beginning to lose my faith in humanity.

Dont take kindly to name calling , he was tied down completely however we experienced very high winds and he went over. DO you actually think that he would not be tied. He was reported right away however due to Maritime law they had to continue there search, from what i heard some of the people that would not ding there cards were holding up the continuation of cruise not the search for Julius.

So who should you be more mad at. pleassssse...

Im sure this is not the first monkey that has sailed and probably will not be the last.

Lighten up..... it was sad to see my friend fly but maybe he was smart he didnt want to leave the caymans :D

Right now, if you listen very carefully, you can hear a dolphin choking on a piece of Julius' dismembered body. Or is it a sea turtle? I dunno, they sound so much alike when they're dying..

Nothing like a drama queen giving a bad performance.

No dolphin would be fooled by a fake banana and sea turtle is a source of food in the Cayman Islands, doncha know?

Apparently he wasn't tied down good enough. And we wouldn't have this thread if it weren't for your irresponsibility, right? I mean, no one would have had to ding their cards if the toy hadn't fallen overboard. You, single handedly, 1) Polluted the Gulf of Mexico, 2) inconvenienced thousands of cruisers, 3) caused a Carnival ship to go on wild man hunt (literally), wasting time and thousands of dollars worth of fuel and further polluting the air with said wasted fuel, and 4) probably caused a great deal of anxiety for those who weren't in the know, who might have thought there really was a man over board, maybe someone they loved. I'm sorry if I don't share your light-hearted view on this and I find it rediculous that people on this thread are actually casting blame for the delay on others. It's all your fault, dude, and I don't think it's anything to be proud of..

Then I'm guilty of being ridiculous, but I'm still not going to change my personal stance.

There was an initial error made in regard to the inflatable on the balcony. There were errors made in the initial onboard announcements. There was a continuing error regarding the S&S cards not correctly identifying passengers and their proper folios. There was an entire chain of things that could have been (or should have been) better.

Once they finally did the announcement in French and Spanish, the pending passenger numbers made a rather dramatic drop. But I was personally in the atrium lobby for the entire time of the last 40+ passengers to come for check-in (curious to see exactly who had not responded to that many announcements -- in famale voice, male voice, French, Spanish, Todd's familiar tone, and the Captain's best Engtalian). A few had already been through, but the S&S issue didn't recognize their earlier efforts. But some of the reasoning by several of those arriving was rather incredible.

I do personally wish the entire event had never happened, but it did. If there's anything I am personally grateful for, it's the quick reaction by the balcony passengers to take responsibility and tell exactly what had occurred. Had they taken the "la la la la, I have no clue what you're talking about" approach, we'd have been delayed at Grand Cayman for a much longer time.

Cruise Director, Todd, was put in an awkward position to deal with it all, but was sensational in trying to remove any lingering tension. Actually made a few joking references for the remainder of the sailing. I think he put it best in his comment during the passenger talent show, "When there's an elephant in the room, you eventually have to recognize that it's there". Was ironic he used another jungle animal for the reference, but it did make a difference.

Perhaps there will be something bigger and better to happen on another ship this week to take some focus off this particular event.

LOL. Sorry I find the monkey overboard funny. I only find it funny because no one was hurt. This could have been a real person and they could have died, but it was a blow-up monkey. Could people please lighten up.:D With the economy the way it is and people loosing their jobs by the hundreds it was nice to read a funny story. I am sorry for everyone on the ship that was inconvenienced by this. It sucks to have a delay.:( I'M JUST GLAD NO ONE WAS HURT! :)

You, single handedly, 1) Polluted the Gulf of Mexico

Wrongo bongo. I, too, have polluted the Gulf of Mexico, as have many millions of others. Nothing surprises me as to what is out there, but it might surprise you. This little monkey is not even a blip on the radar. Not saying it is 'right' (whatever that is), but just that it is.

Somebody needs a DOD and/or cruise!

Lighten up. Ship happens. While yes, the monkey incident started the whole chain of events, it was an ACCIDENT. The people that failed to go "ding" their cards were simply selfish.

I have a full can of salted peanuts, and am thinking a big bowl of popcorn may be in order!:p

ps: I'm sailing on the Freedom in 12 days... I hope the 'monkey' doesn't find its way back to the ship!!!:p

Stlrboo....I have a mission for you...should you decide to accept it....

I have an old acquaintance is suppose to be joining the Freedom when you sail. His name is Adam and he is from South Africa. He will be a Social Host.

We sailed together on the Miracle back in 2006. (He was the karaoke host back then!)

Should your paths cross....would you please tell him that his Cruise Mom says HI!!

We just sailed on the Freedom and I can't believe I missed him by 2 weeks...

uuughhh!!!!

He is a hoot. (and loves Jack Daniels and Coke)

I kept him supplied in them on the Miracle cruise because he had a cold and it helped him keep going!!

Steve (another Social Host or Entertainment Staff as they are now called) will remember me from Nov 22nd. I am the one he said sang like a production singer.

Thanks!

I just returned from Freedom today. Yes, the announcements were heard all over the ship....many many times. We had problems with S&S cards all week. I ended up having change mine 4 times & yes, my name was called one time.....after I had already went & checked in. My card buzzed & my name & cabin number were written on a list.

As soon as they added my info to the list, I stepped over to the Pursers Desk & got my fifth card. Guess they failed to check their list because my name was called about 15 minutes later. I had to leave the casino & got back again.

On a positive note, the late night comediene got some great new material from the monkey overboard story. :p

Also happy to report, Zone, left this afternoon on Destiny. Since they are going to Grand Cayman & Ocho Rios, maybe the will find the missing monkey. :D

Needless to day....it was quite an adventure.

Don, It was a pleasure to meet you.

Nola, Where were you hiding? I don't remember seeing you all week.

Kujobie, you Do Need to Lighten Up, worktocruise does not OWN the monkey & nope neither do I. So your attack was very uncalled for. Always someone wanting to jump on the wagon & go point fingers & accuse people. So that means you accidently accused the wrong person of owning the monkey, so now do you want to say the monkey didn't accidently go overboard????????

Probably taking pictures of half eaten food, empty deck chairs, and MD's letting pax in jeans into the MDR on Elegant night.

Unlike previous cruises, chair hogs were not an issue, Mr Pete. Unlike the fashion police back seat cruisers, I couldn't care less what others wear in the dining room.

As for MDs, Dino is an excellent one!
