cogitosum Posted December 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2008 Just returned from Key West. Went to South Beach at the south end of Duval Street, a half block from the Southernmost Point. This is about a mile from the cruise ship docks. It is small, but very clean with somewhat coarse white sand. It is free, but there are nice lounge chairs available for $5 and a nice full service beach cafe and walk up bar. don't expect to do any surfing, as the waves never get much above 6 inches, which is nice for the little ones. Water is clear (most of the time) and shallow.
peter_krynicki Posted December 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2008 You might want to check something... It used to be the case that if you "bought" a chair for this beach it also got you admittance to the pool across Duval Street at the Southernmost House. *And* one free drink. cogitosum Posted January 5, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 5, 2009 Sorry, but the Southermost House pool and bar is no longer open to the public. There were complaints from the neighbors about the noise.
