farjar Posted December 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Tampa - We arrived on a red-eye from the west coast about 10:00am and were to the airport about 10:30am. The cab was a flat $25. We were assigned to Group 3. Group 1 began boarding at 11:30am, we we called at 11:45am. We grabbed lunch then went to the Truffles dining room (12:30pm, deck 3, aft) to get out dining time changed. We switched to flexible dining and loved it, never having a problem getting a table for two or eating at our convenience. Grand Cayman - Wind and high seas forced us to anchor on the opposite side of the island. After tendering in, there were buses/taxis to take people into Georgetown for $5pp, also independent tours being offered for $25pp. Most of Carnivals tours involving water activities were cancelled, as was our Stingray City tour through Moby Dick Tours ($35pp)(info@mobydicktours.com) due to the unsafe conditions. :( We had heard such good things about the tour and had a such positive interaction with Moby Dick's, we would definitely use them in the future. Cozumel - Once again wind and rough seas caused cancellation of our pre-arranged tour. We had booked a Catamaran/snorkeling trip through Cozumel Tours ($36pp) (www.cozumel-tours.com). Since we had prepaid this tour, we went to the meeting place just to be sure the trip was off. After waiting over an hour with no one ever showing up from the tour company, we returned to the ship. When we got home we were notified our money had been refunded. Still, it would have been nice had a representative been at the designated location to tell us in person. Cab fare from ship to downtown was $6. Belize - The weather was much nicer here. We had pre-booked through www.Cave-Tubing.com for their combination Cave tubing/ATV adventure ($75pp) It was wonderful! I can't say enough about the friendliness and professionalism of Yhony, Joel, Evan and the other tour guides. Everything from meeting us at the pier; to making sure we had a fun, yet safe adventure; to getting us back on time; was exactly as they promised and then some! We were very impressed and would highly recommend them. :) Roatan - Here we had slight rain, so we just stayed aboard and enjoyed the hot tubs and relaxed. Tampa - Debarking was easy. Self-assist passengers (carrying their own luggage) were off at 7:50am. Other passengers were given numbers according to their flight times. Other debarking times were; Tags 1-5 8:45am; tags 6-10 9:00am; tags 11-15 9:15am; tags 16-20 9:30am. We were in the 9:30am group, got a cab immediately and were at our departure gate by 10:15am. (Consider this "a best case scenario" as we had no trouble getting a cab, no traffic to the airport and no line at our flight counter.) Despite the weather, it was a very nice cruise. The food and entertainment were enjoyable. The ship was lovely, the crew friendly, and the beds comfortable. I did make a point to do "Tea" both sea days and the "galley tour" the last sea day, both of which were great (check the daily "Capers" for time/locations. I suggest taking a jacket as several of the indoor areas are quite cool. The one HUGE negative was our cabin location (partially our fault.) We were located under Satchmo's lounge and the nightly noise was almost unbearable. The music was so loud until 1:00am that earplugs and sleeping pills were necessary. Beware booking any deck 1 foward cabin unless you're a night owl and plan on being up late. The was our first Carnival cruise but our seventh overall. We would certainly cruise them again. reno3 Posted December 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Glad you had a good time. We did this cruise last April and we missed Grand Cayman because of the high seas:( We also did the cave tubing with Yhony (we had Richard) and had a wonderful time. Best excursion we have been on yet. Would recommend them in a heart beat:D:D:D
