peabody99 Posted December 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2008 We have a St Thomas stop on our next cruise. In the past we have dashed to grab the ferry to St John to spend the day and then returned and stocked up on liquors and spirits before returning to the ship. In the event we miss the 9am ferry, we would want to quickly shop, and then catch the 11am. What time can the local stores start selling liquor? Thanks :)
m steve Posted December 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2008 at either pier. They deliver to your ship if you buy 4 or more bottles.
Ms411 Posted December 14, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2008 Some of the stores in town and Havensight may open as early as 8:30, but all are open by 9. Gourmet Gallery in Havensight opens by 7 a.m., and they sell liquor. There's also an AH Riise outlet at the Red Hook ferry terminal now, so you can get liquor there, too. peabody99 Posted December 14, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted December 14, 2008 I am trying to recall if prices very widely from store to store for alcohol...I am thinking not, but it has been a few years
m steve Posted December 15, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2008 But a big difference in inventory. Many items you find at Riise are not available at Dynasty and VV. Some of the small shops in Red Hook beat downtown prices by a buck but you had to carry it back and no boxes. Some people go to Pueblo or Kart just up from Havensight but you have to carry it back. Al Cohen prices are the same as Riise but the selection could vary. The big Riise store in CA seems to have the most complete inventory but since they pack the boxes for the ship from there you would think that the port stores would know what other liquors are available. Several stores didn't have Cruzan 5 year but had single Barrel bottles at a much higher cost. I hate to jump from shop to shop to fill my list and unless you buy 4 bottles or more you can't get it delivered to the ship.
