Freedom Cabin 2218 Warning

we sailed to Roatan, Belize and Cozumel on 9/26/2015

The thumps are the ocean waves...if the sea is wild, more and louder thumps.

The noises from the theater above were not that bad at all.

Getting in port will really shake the room when they are mooring, usually early morning, you will not need an alarm clock.

Room service was excellent, and the food not bad at all.

Casino really bad, but so the casinos are...

Just in case anybody is concerned for this is a Pullman room, don't be, the upper beds are concealed in the ceiling. Picture attached

But first things first, I could care less if "you always pick exactly the room you want because you don't want surprises". I've always gone guarantee and had zero issues my first 4 cruises. So I guess I have an 80% success rate. So if your fingers are just itching to type that, please don't ;)

Sorry your GTY luck ran out, but I interpret your thread as much more than a warning. As stated, someone who books a GTY will end up in that cabin on every cruise, and as already stated, it's unlikely anyone would intentionally select that cabin, so it will go to a GTY booking every time. Despite your warning, someone booking GTY will be in it.

While I understand the noise in the cabin was "very bad" with a 22 month old, based on what you included in your original post, you seem angry at Carnival. As I see it, accepting a savings for risking a horrible cabin doesn't equate to it being Carnival's fault.

And then instructing us not to respond with certain replies.

IMHO it's quite fair to feel disappointed that this time it just didn't work out as you had hoped.

My guess is she's gotten over it in the last 7 years.

What I have out of this is if I go on a cruise with just me and dh and we want a cheap getaway I don't care where I am as I can pack ear plugs but if I am bringing a child and want to be able to relax I will pick a room I know will be quiet! Thank you for the tip. I am sorry you had a bummer cruise experience. That is the pits. Am editing this post to say that I didn't know I was replying to a post that started in 2008!! I must pay closer attention to when these things are started geesh.

you still paid your fee and your cabin shouldn't be any less enjoyable than anyone else's b/c you booked guarantee.

Sorry but I disagree with this statement, these are the cheap seats and you pay the cheap prices, if you want a guarantee of a "perfect" room then pay the price and choose your cabin. All cabins are not created equal ;).

We have done guarantee only twice, it was stressful waiting to be assigned. The second we were assigned (about 3 weeks out both times), I immediately checked the location. One time we lucked out and it was good but next time I called and we paid extra to move. It is what it is if there is anything except cabins above you. Lesson learned.
