Help with tours on Jan 4 cruise from BA to Chile

I have been reading all the posts about using a tour operator instead of the cruise line. I know it will be cheaper but do you get the same sort of tour independently as you would with the cruise ship?

Also can you recommend any good ones not to miss as we have never been to South America before.

The cruise ships have very good tours of the area.

Remember if you do book a private tour to be absolutely sure about the history of the tour operator. Sometimes to save a few dollars is not a good idea if it means that you are taking a risk in terms of the overall experience, safety and standards of the tour operator.

Others may agree but I am reminded of those on a Celebrity cruise who booked a tour on their own which ended in a fatal accident.

The think about the cruise ship tours is that the tour operators must meet their standards which on most cruise lines is high.
