Disembarkation process question

Recommended Posts

We are sailing on the Century out of Miami. We plan to walk off with our own luggage to a taxi to go to the airport. What can I expect on disembarkation day? Is it a mad rush in the morning, how do we go through customs, is getting a taxi difficult? Thanks!!!

Folks who can walk off with their own luggage get to leave the ship first. You won't even need to congregate with everyone else in the various designated waiting areas. However, you must be able to carry all of your luggage without any additional assistance. We haven't had any issues with customs. It goes really quickly. Just make sure you have your customs form all filled out beforehand and passports ready and available.

Thanks for the reply. Does each ship have its own customs line, or do all passengers from all ships get put together?

Each ship docks separately; the customs will be for your own ship. However, Americans are sent through one line and all others sent through another. The "foreigner" line can take some time; last month, eventually there was a second "foreigner" line opened up to ease the congestion. That depends on American customs, I believe.
