COCRU Posted December 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2008 This is my first attempt at attaching pictures so hope this works. Here are two pictures of AF Mini-suite #11150 on the Pearl. This is the one that is all the way AFT and has the bed near the balcony. We needed the bed separated into two beds. Very comfortable room for two people. Nice size balcony with comfortable regular chairs (not lounge chairs).
renalrn Posted December 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2008 Thanks for posting, i'm in a minisuite in August on Pearl. I'm sitting on the fence about upgrading, but that looks roomy enough. Did you have fun?
knjfaith Posted December 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2008 i think i like 11150's configuration better than the other aft minis...is the tv close to the edge of the bed or is it closer to the couch...i couldn't tell the depth in the pic...i know in the other aft minis the tv seems to be hard to see from the bed since it's by the couch... ddakrt Posted December 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2008 i think i like 11150's configuration better than the other aft minis...is the tv close to the edge of the bed or is it closer to the couch...i couldn't tell the depth in the pic...i know in the other aft minis the tv seems to be hard to see from the bed since it's by the couch... Hehe, I was going to say that I very much prefer the other configuration better. I like having the bigger table space and it just seems to be more open than 11150's configuration. Having 2 corner units back to back seems kinda awkward...
knjfaith Posted December 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2008 i see what u mean about the awkward tables...but i liked that the tv looks closer to the bed in 11150 but i'm not sure if it is? in the others is the tv hard to see from the bed? it looks like it's all the way by the balcony? knjfaith Posted December 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2008 also...why is the configuration of just this one different?
ddakrt Posted December 27, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2008 The TV does look closer to the bed than in the other configuration; can't really say either way whether we had much trouble watching our TV though, didn't really use it much. ddakrt Posted December 27, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2008 also...why is the configuration of just this one different? The two configurations alternate, though I'm not sure in what pattern.
knjfaith Posted December 27, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 27, 2008 i wish i knew the pattern...since u were in 11154 & had the more 'traditional' & 11150 is the other config...i wonder what i'll have in 11152? ***although i swear i remember being told that only 11150 was different??? ddakrt Posted December 27, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 27, 2008 I know 11156 has the bed closer to the balcony, I think 11152 was the same way as well when I peeked over to our neighbour's room one day.

Suni99 Posted December 27, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 27, 2008 Knj, when do you sail? are you on the pearl?
COCRU Posted December 27, 2008 Author #14 Share Posted December 27, 2008 The TV swivels, but it is most comfortable to watch from the bed since it is closer. There is the desk area next to the TV and a separate vanity area with chair on the opposite side (closer to the bathroom) of that wall unit. The desk chair that was next to the TV and closest to the bed was in the way when you wanted to go out on the balcony so we ended up putting it in the corner by the closet. I think the room would be small for more than two people, but then this was our first cruise so we don't have anything to compare it with. It was a very nice room for two people. Lots of built-in drawers and closet space. Hope that helps. :)
knuts1 Posted December 28, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 28, 2008 We were on the Gem in June in 11150 and you will find a buch of pictures inside the suite under the ship album. http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll309/knuts1/ship/
DiBob Posted December 28, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Thanks for all this info! This is our room for our cruise to Alaska..and the kids will be next door in the inside stateroom 11149!
garycarla Posted December 28, 2008 #17 Share Posted December 28, 2008 The majority of AF mini suites are along the side of the ship. The room is a bit different. The couch/table is near the balcony, not the bed. I prefer this layout and it was one of the reasons we did not take another cruiseline that had the bed near the balcony and the couch inside the room towards the bath. We like to sit in the sitting area and watch the world go by.
retired rascal Posted December 28, 2008 #18 Share Posted December 28, 2008 we were in a mini on the pearl....11014...and it was bigger and had more space between bed and couch and the area with the mirror was desk size. i didn't know some mini's were larger than others. will pay attention because we want to take the repositioning cruise from l.a. through the panama canal. thanks.
