Megan_Strick Posted December 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2008 That was my first cruise in 1995. My parents took me on a cruise for my HS graduation. We went to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. Just curious.

Chigirlcruzin Posted December 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2008 That was my first cruise in 1995. My parents took me on a cruise for my HS graduation. We went to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. Just curious. I also graduated rom HS in 95. I was supposed to go on Celebration on 6/24/95 with my 2 best friends. The Wed (I think) before we're supposed to leave, I see the Celebration on the news - there's been a fire! Carnival cancelled my cruise, but they sent the Imagination out a week early. Since it was a bigger ship, they were able to accommodate some pax from my original sailing, and we got on! As you can see from my signature, I still got on the Celebration, post-fire refurb. cruisin' cate Posted December 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2008 That was our first cruise also. We had a blast! We had no website to help us prepare and not many people we knew had cruised before, so we just had to wing it! Our family made some great memories on that cruise! tigerdadky Posted December 28, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2008 She was our second cruise and by far our best. I loved that ship. From past reading on here I think a lot of people did, too bad the mega ships are the wave of the future. New cruisers are gonna miss out on the small ships intimacy. I had some clients out in Tampa Bay shark fishing when it came into Tampa. It came too fast and had to turn sharply in the narrow channel and threw a huge wave(actually curling) I was lucky to see it early and had time to get underway before it hit. I was impressed!

Carnival was great...refunded the air and cruise and gave us a future free cruise which we took on the Jubilee the following year.:D While I was upset that my cruise was cancelled, I was just so grateful that I was not on the ship when the fire happened! That had to be some experience...floating around with no AC, electricity, etc. I knew Carnival made good on it. We got a lot of perks on our Imagination cruise too - much more free alcohol than normal, OBC - due to the issue.
lmncruise Posted May 15, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 15, 2011 So sad to see the old girl decked out in a non-Carnival paint job. She has great memories for me and my dh as we sailed her in March 1994. Got off the ship in St. Thomas, went to the other side of the island (Megan's Bay) and got married on the beach. Then got back on the ship and had a great honeymoon for the remainder of the cruise. SkyMaster Posted May 15, 2011 #14 Share Posted May 15, 2011 We too, enjoyed "Celebration" a number of times. Great memories as well! I wish Carnival would build some new ships around the 80,000 ton size, instead of the HUGE ships that are being built today. Miss the smaller, more intimate Carnival ships. Hate to see the days coming when the smaller ships will all be gone. "SKY"

cruzesrok823 Posted May 15, 2011 #16 Share Posted May 15, 2011 She was my first cruise as well in April 2006, my daughters show choir performed in the theater. She is the reason we became addicted to cruising. I just got home from Las Vegas (first time in Vegas) and all I could think about while walking around each casino/hotel was how much it reminded me of a cruise, only the food isn't included in Vegas and it's EXTREMELY expensive to eat there. I loved the Celebration, she was a great ship! Now getting ready for the Freedom on July 10th and can't wait!!!
arush5268d Posted May 15, 2011 #17 Share Posted May 15, 2011 My first Carnival cruise was on the Celebration. She is a wonderful ship and gave me many many memories, albeit a bit obscured by alcohol.

JaniceB Posted May 15, 2011 #21 Share Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) She was my first carnival cruise, too. My mom paid for our whole family christmas week. It was soo much fun. I had a duffle bag full of presents and the guy scanning the bag, yes they scanned it in 1996, got a big chuckle from the contents. There was also a regaee band playing on board poolside. I miss the bands poolside. I think she is sailing out of West Palm to the Bahamas. Edited May 15, 2011 by JaniceB
aggie1 Posted May 15, 2011 #22 Share Posted May 15, 2011 When did the Celebration first start sailing. Our first cruise was on her and I think it was in the late eighties, may be mistaken. We went out of New Orleans, but a hurricane was forcast and the Celebration could not come into NO so we went out of Tampa.
