glrydays Posted December 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2008 We are sailing March 15 - on INDY - I just got off the phone with RCI and they are offering anytime dining on this sailing? Anyone have experience eith this on RCI? Do ou like it? Are there any negatives? We are travelling with our 9 and 7 year old so like the idea of the flexibility. The only part I don;t like is having to pay the FULL gratuities in advance as we sometimes adjust (up or down) depending on the service we get. The Big Booper Posted December 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2008 We were on the Indy TA in Nov with early traditional dining on deck 5. The MTD section took up part of this deck and seemed to go smoothly; there were never backups at the doorway such as you find on Princess and no beepers were given out. I asked the MTD maitre 'd how well it was running and he said fine. There were several tables in the fixed sections that never had people at them. Several times during the 13 night trip, the staff would escort a couple or foursome to one of these tables at odd times for one night only, obviously an escape valve for the MTD. It seems RCI has solved the workings in a matter of months.
ukiecruzer Posted December 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2008 just did the ios dec 13 to dec 21 and had my time dining the only problem is that they want you to make a reservation for the next night. just told them that what was the point of my time dining and came to dinner at different times during bthe cruise and had no problems. we always requested to be seated where carlos and nowella were serving. Keith was also a waiter who floated around and was the best for service.

The only part I don;t like is having to pay the FULL gratuities in advance as we sometimes adjust (up or down) depending on the service we get. We just got off the Independence 12/21 and had my time. We enjoyed the flexibilty and ate around 6:15-6:30pm each night w/ same table & wait staff. They asked us if we wanted the same time the following night and sometimes we told them we would get back with them or would be skipping dinner. They give out a paper to call the day of during certain times (they have to plan to) but you can just show up when ever you want. We also liked the idea of prepaying the tips, less to worry about at the end of the cruise---we never give less that RCL recommendation even if we do not eat in the dining room. negc Posted December 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2008 Almost all of the reports I have read, and the comments I have heard from people who sailed with us and had MTD, have been very positive. I attribute some of this to the fact that they are limiting the number of MTD reservations that they are accepting as they phase this program in on each ship and the fairly low level of publicity they are giving to this program initially. They do seem to be trying to avoid some of the problems that Princess had when it introduced Any Time Dining, and so far they seem to be succeeding. We normally do traditional dining but are tempted to try My Time Dining on one of our next RCI sailings.:)
