A Carnival Cruise Lines spokesman said Tuesday that the Miami-based company has not scrapped plans to sell the Holiday to its Spanish subsidiary, Iberocruceros, as reported by online industry publication Maritime Matters.

The Holiday is still scheduled to leave Mobile (for Iberocruceros) in early November, and Mobile is still scheduled to get the larger cruise ship Fantasy at that time, spokesman Vance Gulliksen said. Maritime News reported that Carnival cited the "global economic crisis" in deciding to keep the Holiday in service in the U.S. "for the near future."

Gulliksen said the report was probably the result of a misunderstanding during a conference call.
