cruiseaholic76 Posted January 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2009 What is the best area of seven mile beach that isn't so crowded. I was looking at the reef grill webcam and it looks really crowded. We'll have our 2 year old with us and would love to be able to relax without it being so hectic. Thanks. runner15km Posted January 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2009 Its always crowded at the Grill and SeaGrape. Just walk 100' up or down the beach and it is wide open and uncrowded. There is a small beach playground with some shade trees on the southside of SeaGrape Beach for your child.
alphakitty Posted January 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2009 We used a public access park once...nice spot. We rented a car and there was plenty of parking. Here's a blurb I copied about the spot. One of the best access points is the public beach park, tucked north of the Westin Casuarina Hotel. With plenty of parking (other beach access areas offer parking on the shoulder of busy West Bay Road), this is one of the best options for enjoying Seven Mile Beach if you're not staying at one of the area properties. The park includes shaded pavilions, restrooms with changing rooms, and a small playground for the kids. Squeaky clean and, like the rest of the island, devoid of any beach vendors, the park is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.
cruiseaholic76 Posted January 5, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks so much. We'll probably just have the cab drop us off at the reef grill and then walk down the beach where it's less crowded. Cemetary beach looks really nice but there aren't any bathrooms so that one is out.
OZjones12 Posted January 5, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2009 I got married further down the beach and it was quiet!!! Enjoy!
jean-lynd Posted January 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2009 cruisaholic that is what I would do. If you don't need a chair or an umbrella you can just drop your towel where you want and the food, drink and bathrooms are close at hand. Sounds like a perfect day to me! Enjoy! Yeah we live in Florida and love going to beaches that are less crowded where we can just relax. Plus I figure it will be harder to watch my son with a lot of people around. There are 5 ships in port when we are going so I know it will be crowded. Thanks so much for all your replies. We leave in 3 days and I can't wait. Now I just hope we have good weather. floridahog Posted January 20, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Last time we went to the Caymans, my wife and asked the cab driver to take us to and uncrowded beach. We did not care about bathrooms or food or so forth. He drove us down to the cemetary. Told us to walk through it and on the other side the beach will be yours. It was, only one other couple, the reef was only 50 yards out we had a great time. The old cemetary is kinda unique too. Have Fun!

eh2zed Posted January 26, 2009 #15 Share Posted January 26, 2009 floridahog is right. Tell the taxi driver what you want and they will take you to the part of the beach which suits best. Remember it is 7 miles long. That is a lot of beach.

lollylew Posted January 29, 2009 #17 Share Posted January 29, 2009 We are going to be heading there in May and I wanted to know if anyone who has been there can tell me how much chair rentals/umbrellas are. I thought I saw someone mention somewhere that it was like $21 but I was hoping for something cheaper (I remember in Freeport, Bahamas it was $5 per chair). jean-lynd Posted January 30, 2009 #18 Share Posted January 30, 2009 When we were at the Reef Grill/Royal Palms in July it was $5 for a chair and $10 for an umbrella. I hope this helps! Enjoy!
