Call your agent if you don't have a cabin assigned!

Just got off a 2 day on Celebrity Century. Heard from a someone that a table mate of theirs had booked a suite several months back. When they boarded the ship, they were told that they were assigned to an inside cabin! That there was some kind of "mix up"??? And they wound up in that inside cabin. Waiting to hear what if any compensation was made to them. So, it seems that these things do happen and it is not limited to just NCL. I have to say this is the first time i have heard about this type of thing happenning at all.

Nita--I'm a lawyer, admitted to practice in Florida. Whether they apologized or not, it's irrelevant, if they were at fault, which they were. But realistically--what would my damages be, since I got on the ship, in a balcony cabin?? Probably not much, if anything. I have always been a person who accepts responsibility for anything that I screw up. It would be nice if a company would do that also. It never crossed my mind to sue them. If I had been denied passage, yeah, probably I would have thought about it, if they had just said, "here's your money back, have a nice life", which I really doubt would have happened.

But being honest, which I generally am, to a fault--my two major reasons for posting this here were 1) a heads up to other pax sailing especially on the Sky in the near future and 2) to POSSIBLY cause them a bit of embarassment. I probably succeeded with number 1. Number 2, I kinda doubt it.

Carol, I didn't mean to indicate you would sue or had grounds, but you being a lawyer you know how quickly people can find a reason to sue. for what? emotional stress due to the cruise lines mistake. As I said, you had every reason to be upset, but I also know an apology would not happen...

Not sure how anyone can say NCL is not too blame for the way they handled this. It was shoddy. I could accept not having a cabin YET, but to imply that they may not have one at all and to make these folks sit there without some kind of apology at least is wrong.

I would be interested in other issues that you had on the cruise. It may be risky to post, but why not go for it?

garycarla--sorry, not pulling me in there. No upside to me, to posting a review that will only get me cr*p from a bunch more people here. When this thread is done, I'm done with NCL...

Carol_Hill you don't have to worry about it :D There're many infrequent posters here who're very cognizant of the fact that these boards are quite replete with cheerleaders who are eager to put down other posters who dare post any complaints--however justified. They'll blame you for booking a guarantee, blame you by claiming they would've handled it better, etc. I guess some folks think that posting criticisms while asserting their own theoretical, supposedly-better decision making skills somehow make themselves look superior.

You had good intentions with your post, that's very well appreciated by some here :)

Cathy--thanks for the support! And I sincerely hope you never have a similar situation either!! :(

Let me know if we can get together here in Florida soon!

LOL...you know Carol...I actually REFRAINED from mentioning your occupation in my post, but I wanted to SCREAM "hey people....this woman is a lawyer....it's UNLIKELY that she mis-read, mis-interpreted, mis-ANYTHING as related to this episode." They don't know you like I do. :D

I'll be in Orlando first week in Feb.

Nice try.:p If I was the OP after the NCL cheering section playing the blame game, I surprised she is hanging in here on this post.

Every line has problems, I thought this is why CC was here, for both positive and problem reporting.:)

You don't agree that NCL did anything wrong?? Well, geez, if that's your position, not sure I can explain it to you any plainer than I have already. Obviously, you didn't read anything I posted on this thread.

I was NEVER told by ANYONE on the ship that we WOULD in fact have a cabin at ALL, until we got a key at about 4:55 PM, something like that. On the contrary, what we were told was 1) the ship is oversold and 2) we don't have any cabins available. The other couple who were sitting right beside us were SPECIFICALLY told, "you will probably have to disembark".

WOW! Some story!

Reminds me of something I read on Cruise Critic a couple of years back about a lady who boarded, had a cabin, and was then removed from the cabin because it was double booked.

If memory serves, she waited all day to be placed in another cabin, even though she had tickets for that cabin, until she was finally escorted off the ship, which sailed without her.
