drafterdw Posted January 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2009 we are planning on going to Eagle Beach while in Aruba - we were in Aruba about 5 years ago and loved Eagle Beach We had heard when we were there before that bus service was great but that was not exactly true. Wondering if any one has had a more recent experience with using the bus service in Aruba? Does anyone know what bus we would take? Is the bus deport open across from the dock? The last time we were there it was under construction.

funkycruiser Posted January 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2009 We were in Aruba last Thursday (Jan 15th) and took the bus to the beach. When you exit the ship, take a right at the street and the bus station is on the left. Very easy to find. We bought a transfer for $2.30 (two ways) went all the way up to Boca Catalina to do some snorkeling, then caught a bus back down to Eagle Beach after a few hours. The bus was great!! It was nice to save a bit of money for a change and was very simple. They run about every 20-30 minutes. We would just keep our eyes open for one going back, then when we saw one we would start packing up, knowing that we had about that time to get ready to catch it. We were very happy with the experience. The bus drivers will tell you where you are at too!
CRUISERTN Posted January 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Where do you get off for Boca Catalina? How far do you have to walk to get there after getting off the bus? Also, do you get the return bus at the same place where you got off but in the opposite direction? We will be in Aruba next month and wanting to do some snorkeling from the beach in shallow water where we can get some good underwater photos and this sounds like the perfect place as long as we don't have to walk too far (with all of our snorkel gear) after getting off the bus. Would rather go on our own so we can stay as long as we like.
funkycruiser Posted January 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2009 The bus driver told us which stop was Boca Catalina, then we just caught it at exactly the same spot going back. The beach is RIGHT beside the road. If you go, make sure you stop at the tree just to the left of the stairs. I was catching some shade there and there were about 30-40 little lizards all scurrying around - also a 2 ft long green iguana and a very prett colored Mina Bird. It was very cool! mcmarya Posted March 8, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Yes, you can pay in US $. They may give you change in local currency, though.
candydane Posted March 13, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2009 Do you know if you can give the the 30 cents in US coins? Or do you have to give them dollar bills & get Aruba coins in change?
Arubalisa Posted March 14, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 14, 2009 US dollars are widely accepted all over the island, including the buses. In a rare case you many receive some Florins in your change.
