teresapink Posted January 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2009 Well, while I was working RCCL put the reservations up for the specialty restaurants on my cruise and they are sold out for my first Formal night (Sunday)! What's up with that? I just found out you could book before you board.....but too late for a working girl! Any hope of seats put aside for people who want to book while on board? wrp96 Posted January 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2009 Yes, they reserve spaces for booking onboard.

JanineM Posted January 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2009 This was one of my concerns when I learned that they were allowing pre-booking of specialty restaurants. Granted, as a regular CC'er, I knew about it, but the majority of pax do not so they are trying to book from a much smaller pool of available times. Those who book late or may not choose to come here have a much greater chance of missing the opportunity to book. Do they limit the number of bookings an individual can make before sailing ... i.e., could an individual book a table for eight every single evening? esbie11 Posted January 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2009 It is also possible that someone "bought out" the restaurant for that night. My TA had been calling RCCL on a weekly basis since last summer to try to book our group in Portofino for our wedding night. She was repeatedly told it was too early to book (the cruise is in April). Then one day in October she was told that someone bought out the entire restaurant for that night. I was not pleased. But, that may have been what occured for the night that you are trying to book as well.
mikepmcm Posted January 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2009 Keep in mind anyone else shut out will be competing for those on board booking slots. So make it your priority to book as soon as you board the ship.
teresapink Posted January 15, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted January 15, 2009 When you book online you have to pay...so that would deter people from just booking up tables in case they might want to have the option...That is a good thing, I guess...as far as someone booking the restaurant for a private party I guess that is possible...it was weird you say that because only 3 nights of the whole cruise showed available for Chops! Aprille Posted January 15, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I don't think they make all nights available for online booking. There are only 3 nights available on our upcoming cruise too and I've seen many claim the same about theirs. I would guess they don't even make half of the reservations available online.
