I agree Terry, I was really torn. Thats why I posted, because we've never done aft and after hearing so much about it we were really excited to give it a try. Ohhh well...theres always next time I guess. The old advice of "book a cabin that you want and hope for an upsell" really held true here as we really would be completely happy with either cabin.

 

No.... you know what Bryan.. after thinking about it for a while, you did the exact right thing, I think (not that what I think matters..LOL).. but just saying that I think we would have done the same thing to get the suite perks. They are wonderful perks, the best in the mass market industry. Also I think it is a wonderful surprise you are giving your DW. I stil don't know what we are going to do about our decision for the OS on our Alaskan cruise.. but I'm thinking we might just go for it.

I surprised my husband after our upsell last summer and it was soooo hard to keep it to myself! I waited until we got to the dock and had to tell him because we needed different room numbers on our luggage. Try to hang in there, she will be incredibly surprised and it makes the upsell even better!!

OK Guys I got the AC #9502 for $300 TOTAL!!! The rep said that the balcony on this room is 266 sq feet!!! Holy Cow, thats huge!

 

I'm not sure if others have posted how they do the upsells but here is how they do it:

AC price right now is $1999 PP. The current upsell discount is 50% or $1000 PP. We had paid something like $850 PP for our AF mini. They offered me the difference. They also let me keep my $300 OBC!

AC 9502 is spectacular. I had the 10500 AC on the Dawn a few years ago and loved it.

I also got my current upsell from an AF to an AB for $290 pp with the same price formula that you posted. No more AC's left. I think we both got great deals. The woman in the department advised they are really over run with calls lately. I hope they don't stop accepting calls like they did years back.

got to remember the 10500 is the bumpout so the 9502 isnt....still a great deal but not the same cabin you had;)

I would have gladly paid $290 to upsell for an AB on our cruise. Unfortunately, there were none left. Honestly, we would be happy to be going in an inside room...but the AC is pretty sweet!

We just returned from our Med cruise on the 16th of Jan, we had an AC Penthouse on the front of the ship (Jade). The best thing about the cabin is that you eat breakfast and lunch in Cagney's with the "other VIP's" It's so nice to be able to eat without waiting, the servers get to know what you like. You get VIP service from the start. You check in at the Penthouse line (no waiting), and escort will take you from the port check in to your cabin, sparkling wine on the way. You have access to a butler, our butler took care of dining reservations, DVD's, room service, laundry,etc. Well worth the money.
