Port Canaveral Rental Car Question

My family will be sailing on NCL's Majesty in April. Our last port is Port Canaveral. We have family an hour away and would like to visit with them during our day in port. We would like to rent a car, but we are finding that the rental car agencie at the pier close at 6 PM. We were planning to return later in the evening since we do not depart until 10 or 11 PM. Has anyone had any experience with rentals and time at this port?

We just did this with Avis. When getting off the ship ,there are plenty of shuttles from various rental car agencies parked in the taxi lot. It was about a ten minute ride to the Avis building. Let them know that you will be arriving back after closing and they give you a business card from a taxi service . Just give them a call when you get back (or a few minutes prior.) The taxi transport is $10 and they have a drop box for your keys. The rental was a 24 hour one, so the late arrival did not change the price that was booked online. I am not sure how the other companies do this, but probably similar. I think it is very common place for them to have late returns from cruisers leaving port after closing.

Budget will leave a driver at their place after 6:00 PM. Call the local office and arrange for it. We pre-arranged a ride back when we got our car. We got back to Budget at 7:00 and he was there waiting with a van. He got a nice tip, as well.
