Activities on-board the ship

We have only been on Royal Caribbean to the Caribbean and have enjoyed our cruises on them so far. We are planning to go to Alaska in 2010 and wondered if the activities on-board such as the rock climbing wall & sports court are open throughout the day, like on caribbean cruises or are the time slots more limited due to the weather?
