Blue Boys Posted January 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Been away from the boards for a while to try and overcome my addiction. Worked for a while.:) Been on 2 South Pacific cruises and thinking about the Whitsundays on the PD in May 09. Can anyone answer some questions for me. Which ports are tendered and which are docks? Where does the ship anchor for Whitsundays? What's not to miss? How far away is Yorkey's Knob from Cairns Is May a good time of year to travel to the area (I'm Victorian, what would I know:rolleyes:) Any info would be appreaciated. Thanks Marg

Thanks Marg Brisbane - berthed at Portside Wharf Whitsundays - at anchor off Airlie Beach Cairns - at anchor off Yorkey's Knob Port Douglas - at anchor Willis Island - doesn't stop, just cruises by so that it has left Australian waters to make it an 'international cruise' Yorkey's Knob is about a 20 min drive (I think) from the centre of Cairns. May is a good time to go to Cairns, the weather will be warm (compared to Melbourne in May) but not too hot or humid.

bawn2cruz Posted January 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2009 Hi Marg I think most of your questions have already been answered. My wife and I have booked on this cruise (our 3rd on PD) and I have started a roll call. Would love to see your names on it. We booked last July and got a pretty good deal (at least I think it was) - a discount of a bit over 50% plus an 'on board credit' of $100.00 each. Regards, Roy
i_love_cruising Posted January 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2009 .. Willis Island - doesn't stop, just cruises by so that it has left Australian waters to make it an 'international cruise' The ship does actually stop for an hour or so (from memory) while the captain has a chat with the people who work on the island, giving reports and also letting off a weather balloon.
