Paradise Beach, or COCONUTS for lunch?

Has anyone had the pleasure of having lunch at either Paradise Beach, or COCONUTS in Cozumel?

Which would you say is better?

I'm looking for some good Mexican food, or fresh seafood. (and a margarita of course:-)

Would you recommend either one of these restaurants over the other?

Thanx for any advice.

Paradise Beach

Good Food, more of an established kitchen, modern, nice dining area under a big palapa building. Pretty good menu with wide variety.

Coconuts- Good Food, more of a off the beaten path feel to it. No power everything brought in by ice chests. Not as extensive a menu but still good. More of a rustic caribbean feel and ambiance, or lack there off.

Unless you are renting a car, PB is much closer to the ship docks. Coconuts will cost you at least $20 more to and from to get there.

In a perfect world eat and get drinks at both.

If you are looking for Margaritas I would pick Mezcalitos over both.

Have a great time

Agreed on the car rental comment. We rented the car for the day & if you are doing that, then you could stop at Paradise Beach for the morning & then finish cruising around the island by car & go to Coconuts for lunch. We did not stop @Paradise Beach when we were there, because El Norte had blown in the nite before & winds & waves were too much for us to go swimming. We rented the car & went to Coconuts. I had shrimp quesadilla & hubby had steak fajita. We shared an order of nachos. We had a magarita & a dos xx beer. Total bill $30. View from the restaurant: priceless.

We rented our car ahead of time thru the Cozumel Insider (website right at the top of this page). It ensures you will have a car available, especially if you are travelling at a busy time of the year. You will also be able to budget correctly because you will be told exactly what the cost will be ahead of time. Of course, many people rent cars without reserving them, so you can certainly do it that way. Also, just an FYI, we circled the island one time & the fuel cost was $5 to refill the tank.

We rented from Enterprise on a day when I think 8 ships were in the port. We got an early start so at 8:30Am- ship time we got our car. $40 for a fun VW convertible- stick shift- no radio- no seat belts- no AC- no confidence-. We also booked a horseback ride thru Rancho Palmitas- the most Southerly of two- and then we tooled the whole island for the rest of the day and ended up at Coconuts. The ride along the East coast of the island was worth the trip. And Coconuts didn't disappoint- excellent fajitas and quesadillas- and their chips and salsa were killer- "The salsa might be a little hot"- the waiter says. Yeah, right.
