What time off the ship?

What time can we reasonably expect to be off the ship and through customs? If we leave our luggage out the night before do we then pick it up somewhere and go through customs with it? We are renting a car for a while before our plane leaves at 4pm and want to be sure it's worth renting.

You'll probably be off by 9 a.m., but like like cruiserbryce said, don't make plans before 10 a.m. That gives you a solid 4 hours or so before you need to turn your car and catch your 4 p.m. flight. Will 4 hours give you the time you need to see Miami by say...2 p.m.?

That's about ALL you'll have time for. You may want to limit where you visit in South Beach. There are two great pedestrian areas in South Beach. If you have 4 hours, I would do this:

Head to Lincoln Road FIRST where the pedestrian mall is. Walk around, people watch, grab some great eats for lunch (our favorite is Pasha's but there are a lot of choices for food there). From there, head over to the beach (in walking distance) and enjoy the sand IF you still have time. You may feel like just walking along the beach is about all you'll have time for, after having visited the pedestrian mall of Lincoln Road.

Such a great port....got off this morning by 8:20 a.m. quickly found porter & 6 pcs of luggage...on to customs...& out to valet...we were driving to the first traffic lt by 8:45...walked through our front door at 10.

The thing that may first slow you down is if all the non US residents don't get themselves off in a timely way when they are called first- as US citizens can't be released until non residents are finished with immigration.
