Gold panning

I seem to recall someone saying that these shore excursions out of Juneau were so bad, like a joke... can anyone confirm before we spend our money on it? I think there are 2 choices...one short one and a longer one that goes underground.

The underground section is excellent - ours was led by a highly experienced underground mining instructor. The above ground, done by young female Princess guides, was bad and the panning was embarrassingly bad, with "gold pans" the size of soup bowls.
