DBG258RTR Posted February 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2009 Staying at Embassy Suites in FLL pre cruise. Just wondering what other people think of it, their experience, and how easy is it to get a taxi to the port?
Jim B Posted February 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We stayed there a couple of years ago and will again March10th About a 15 minuted taxi ride from airport & about a 10 minute ride to port. I feel it is a great spot to stay. Open Mall right behind the building, places to eat within two block area, Liquor store, drug stores close by. AND if interested Sun Trolley stop is right there. bills blasters Posted February 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We just stayed there 2 weeks ago, and loved it. The happy hour and breakfast was great, well worth it. They were very generous with the drinks at happy hour and also had popcorn and chips. The sun trolley is right outside, and the water taxi was just a short walk. If you go to a high floor, and look out the viewing area to the east, you will have a great view of the ports and all the ships. Plus, there were all sorts of restaurants to choose from, and 2 grocery stores within a few blocks. We plan on staying there again in Dec. The taxi was about 15$ from the airport, and less than that to the port. I did see taxi's there quite often. You can also sign up for the shuttle that the hotel has to the port. It was under 10$ per person. We also used the hotel shuttle to go to the water taxi. One of our group wasn't able to walk the 6 blocks. They charged us 2$ per person. We just talked to concierge, and she arranged it for us. She can also get tickets to the water taxi for you at no extra charge. You will love the hotel. Dett Posted February 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2009 We stayed at the Renaissance on 17th street but walked to the shops that are near the Embassy Suites. We kind of wished that we had stayed there due to the how close the shops were to the hotel. Did not go into the hotel but it is fairly close to the port as others have said. juniorsmom Posted February 2, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2009 I stayed there in December, and I wasn't too impressed with it. The housekeeping was not that good. (Plates in our room from previous guests). If anyone is sleeping on the sofa bed, you will be awakened very early the next morning as they set up for breakfast approx. 5:30 Am. It is in a convenient location.
bills blasters Posted February 2, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2009 You must have been on the lower floor to hear noise from the breakfast. We slept on the couch, and didn't hear any noise at all. I think we were on the 7th floor. We did not have any trouble with the housekeeping in the 2 days while we were there, thank goodness.
