Prebooking usually opens 90 days before the sailing date. Any excursions booked before boarding will be charged to your credit card immediately. However, you may cancel for a full refund up until the normal cancellation date which is usually 24-48 hours before the excursion is scheduled. If there is a must-do excursion, I suggest that you pre-book as by the time you get onboard, it may be sold out.

Perfectly stated. If the excursions are popular ones, they may be sold out if you wait until you get on the ship.

Welcome to the boards!

While they do try to hold some of spots open for booking excursions on board; I agree with others if there are certain ones you are certain you want to go on, make sure you book beforehand to ensure a spot for yourself and the rest of your party. You'll be too busy doing other things once onboard and won't want to worry about booking excursions at that time. Enjoy your cruise.
