Nacwolin Posted February 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Hello, We are cruising on the Pride on 8/29/09 along with our three kiddos, ages 17, turning 16 on the cruise, and 11. For our boys, will dress pants, dress shirt and tie suffice for the "formal" nights? Hubby will wear a suit, and I will probably go with a cocktail dress. Our daughter will have some formals to choose from, as she is in a wedding and has junior prom prior. What do you think - will these selections work for us? Thanks for your input - hubby and I have only been on one other cruise, and that was with Princess.
cathyz Posted February 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2009 The 'Cruise Elegant' (no longer formal) nights can be more casual than in the past. Your kids don't even need to wear a tie and your husband doesn't have to wear a suit unless he wants to, here are the new dress codes from the Carnival website. Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies - Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs). Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual dinner for ladies and gentlemen: gym shorts, basketball shorts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, cut-off jeans, and sleeveless shirts for men. Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you‘d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too! Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats. Nacwolin Posted February 6, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Thanks for your response. I saw that on the website - have folks started "dressing down" to match that, or have you found that the majority are still dressing up (more so)? Or is it a pretty even mix?
