freckledcat Posted February 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2009 We are arriving in Anchorage a day early and are trying to decide where to stay. We are trying to save money to use on the cruise so initially we thought we'd stay at a B&B but realized we have to get a 6:30am train to Seward so will miss breakfast. All of the hotels seems to be upwards of 2-300 for one night. The motel 6 and HoJo's are reasonably priced but have horrible reviews. Please help!!! vivian02 Posted February 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2009 If you are watching the money try this....Start making bids on Priceline for a "Downtown" Anchourge Hotel. Start at $95 and work your way up. Stick with the three star hotels. Most of the hotels in down town Anchorage are relatively close to the train station. Another place to look would "Hotwire". Either way you might be suprised. Tim

It is right next to the train station and they have shuttle to airport and offer breakfast. The reservation people were great to work with. We were able to get rooms for $169.00 with Sam's card discount.:)
Travel-Jen Posted February 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2009 I agree, I have been going round and round with this same issue...;) All the Anchorage hotels, no matter where you stay are $200-300, even airport hotels. And then the ones below $200 were dumps...LOL! And we are picky with our accomodations, but after much research, the Comfort Inn Ship Creek doesn't seem too bad. The pp is right, you get 30% off with a Sams Club membership card. Or if you have a Costco card, check with them too for travel discounts. The reviews are pretty decent, rooms clean, next door to the Alaska Railroad, free breakfast, and free 24 hour shuttle to airport and railroad. Will also take you to town if you need. We got a room for $169, $190 total after tax. Not bad, considering all you get for the price. We are only staying the night, precruise anyway, so refused to pay $350 for the ANC Hilton in June! As we were originally booked. Thank God for Samsclub...LOL! Good luck!
kenish Posted February 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Alaskan Leopard B&B is a mile or so from the train station. We really enjoyed our stay on 2 non-consecutive nights. If you let them know you're leaving early they will probably make a "grab and go" bag for you to take on your way out.
