Coolcruise02 Posted November 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Everytime I try to do a search there is a pop-up add in front of the box to type in! What am I doing wrong? Thanks
hstrybuf Posted November 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2004 You need to get a pop up blocker. You can get one for free at: http://www.panicware.com/ Once you get rid of those pop ups, just type in something specific for your search. :)
kristikae Posted November 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Cruise Critic doesn't use pop-ups of any kind. If you are getting them, there is something loaded on your computer causing them.
tef43 Posted November 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Cruise Critic doesn't use pop-ups of any kind. Perhaps CC itself doesn't, but their advertisers certainly do. And don't get me started on the "BridgeTrack" and "Avenue A" spyware that is attached to the RCI banner ads.
derf5585 Posted November 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2004 RCI banner ads. Royal Caribbean International?
tef43 Posted November 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Royal Caribbean International? None other. Primarily on the main CC page. If you bookmark the boards and skip all the other junk, you probably won't get hit by them. Every time I go to the main page however, Spybot catches them. L2J Posted November 19, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Spybot catches them. Great program and can be had from cnet.com
derf5585 Posted November 19, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Spybot catches them. Spywear is a good thing it what keeps this board free. Spyware Update & Comparison from http://www.yourinfosrc.com/spy_update.htm Spy vs Spy: Ad-aware vs Spybot S&D from http://www.flexbeta.net/main/articles.php?action=show&id=39 I wonder if the makers of spywear make new spywear as the makers of viruschecker program make new viruses. GoinCruisin Posted November 19, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 19, 2004 Spybot always catches the one that gets loaded when I come to CC... it's the Bridgetrack RCI (something or other...), I never have to worry with pop ups... Download Spybot :D
Coolcruise02 Posted November 19, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted November 19, 2004 kristikae They are from CC - deals for cruises from Costa and Celebrity. Thanks everyone for all the help! :)
Grumpy1 Posted November 19, 2004 #13 Share Posted November 19, 2004 If you go to http://boards.cruisecritic.com you will be at the index page for all of the boards and forums. Bookmark that page and use it to log in and navigate around. I never get popups when I do that. I avoid the main page like the plague. ciship Posted November 19, 2004 #14 Share Posted November 19, 2004 I don't get pop ups, but I never have much luck using the search function on Cruise Critic. It just brings up tons of topics that have nothing to do with my search word (s).
