Moderator-Or those in the know-How are we to use the search function?

Everytime I try to do a search there is a pop-up add in front of the box to type in! What am I doing wrong? Thanks

You need to get a pop up blocker. You can get one for free at:

Once you get rid of those pop ups, just type in something specific for your search. :)

Cruise Critic doesn't use pop-ups of any kind. If you are getting them, there is something loaded on your computer causing them.

Perhaps CC itself doesn't, but their advertisers certainly do. And don't get me started on the "BridgeTrack" and "Avenue A" spyware that is attached to the RCI banner ads.

None other. Primarily on the main CC page. If you bookmark the boards and skip all the other junk, you probably won't get hit by them. Every time I go to the main page however, Spybot catches them.

Spybot always catches the one that gets loaded when I come to CC... it's the Bridgetrack RCI (something or other...), I never have to worry with pop ups...

If you go to http://boards.cruisecritic.com you will be at the index page for all of the boards and forums. Bookmark that page and use it to log in and navigate around. I never get popups when I do that. I avoid the main page like the plague.

I don't get pop ups, but I never have much luck using the search function on Cruise Critic. It just brings up tons of topics that have nothing to do with my search word (s).
