Carolyn R Posted February 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2009 The Texas hold 'em table was in the process of being set up last week and they hoped to open it then; but, due to techical difficulies, it was delayed.
Rollexx Posted February 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2009 If its up and running it will be the "Poker Pro" table. If you're not familiar with them its a video poker table. Sorta like playing poker online. Each person has a video display in front of them. Really not that bad once you learn how to us the touch screen. 10% rake with $6 max. Both cruises I have played it on it was 1/2 no limit. $200 max buy in.

DiTomCruisers Posted February 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Hello everyone. I just had a question about the Casino on the Caribbean Princess. Does anyone know if you can play Texas Hold'em in the Casino? Yes they had a poker pro table last year on the CB. They always had a full table at night and always a few folks during the day!... I always got there too late to get in on the tourneys, but I did talk to a few folks that had a blast in the tourneys....
New Cruiser 13 Posted February 11, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted February 11, 2009 sounds good. when they have tournaments is it just one table? are the tournaments scheduled?
Rollexx Posted February 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2009 If they run them the same as they did on the Star in Sept it will be scheduled but no sign ups before hand. First come first seated. Had to get there about 30 mins ahead to get a seat. They had back to back $20 buy in tounys two days and was suppose to have a $50 buy in on the last sea day but didnt get enough players for that one. Pay out two places. And yes, only the one table. austinlw Posted February 11, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2009 I played on a PokerPro table on Carnival Conquest last January. Rake was 10% and capped at $6. 1/2 no limit. Decent playable game. Not the same as playing with cards and chips, but some advantages also. For one, it moves much faster, which I like. Players have a time limit - play or be folded/checked. Calculations and payouts happen in a second, and they are absolutely accurate. On my recent Royal Caribbean cruise (Voyager), they had a PokerPro machine, but when I saw people playing (which wasn't often), it was 3/6 no limit and rake cap was really high (at least $10+). No way I'm going to play if it's $9 a round just to sit and fold weak hands (I'm a pretty tight player). I like Royal Caribbean for everything except their casinos, and particularly poker. For poker, Princess and Carnival seem to have playable poker games (for me anyway) RC does not.
Snoogum Posted February 11, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 11, 2009 Are you able to use cash in these casinos, or do you purchase chips with your cruise credit card?
Rollexx Posted February 11, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2009 They take cash. You also can get cash using your cruise card but they charge you 3%. You can however, put your cruise card right into the slot machines for credits without paying the 3%.
