dook0126 Posted February 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I would recommend that you stay at the Hilton Riverside...it is on the river and 5 mins from the port. I love this hotel and choose it when I stay in the city for fun weekends and such...great restaurant "Drago's"...definitely a must if you are in NO.... Have a great trip.... kjunea Posted February 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Drury Inn on Poydras. They have a cruise package that allows you to park for free while you are gone. Evening cocktail and appetizers, Full hot breakfast in the morning. Right on streetcar line heading towards Bourban St. (5 blocks). Rooms were a little small, but very clean. We used it last July before our cruise. My brother and his family are using it next month for the same reason, so I know they still have the special going on. peachhead11 Posted February 14, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 14, 2009 I don't know what your budget is like but the Windsor Court is wonderful. We stayed there a few weeks after Katrina and they were still dealing with all the problems but they did a great job of taking care of us.

The Hilton Riverside is a great place to stay, be sure to eat charbroiled oysters at Drago's. There also has been several good reviews of The Drury on the New Orleans Port thread. bonniemari Posted February 14, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2009 If you are a member of Harrahs Total Rewards check your account at Harrahs website to see if you are able to get a comped room at Harrah's Casino/Hotel in NOLA. I have been able to get our room and valet parking comped at Harrahs the last several times I've cruised out of NOLA. A hotel stay in the French Quarter also usually comes with a hefty parking fee. Usually around $20-$30 a night. But it's nice to be there cause you are within walking distance to some great restaurants and Cafe Du Monde for biengets/caffe au late (sp?) for breakfast before the cruise. MrCruzeaddict Posted February 15, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I'll put in another vote for the Drury Inn. Nice hotel, Great lobby! A great place to "meet & mingle" https://wwwc.druryhotels.com/Default.aspx Joe
kcvarner Posted February 15, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I am from N.O. Go to neworleanscvb.com there are pre and post cruise deals. We always stay at the Holiday Inn on Royal St. 1/2 block from Bourbon St. I think it is 105.00 nite with car and will keep your car for duration of cruise for that price and you pay 8.00 for ride to port. The Port of N.O. is not secured. After ships leave no one is there. Hotels by the Port have nothing arround there so you would use alot of cab fair to eat and stuff. Driving arround the french quarter is not possible no parking and they close off streets at nite and for get it if there is a festival or conference in. Staying there you have everything. If price is not option stay at the Royal Sonesta with a balcony room over looking Bourbon St. but no deals. Be careful about stay if you are driving parking is very $$$$ always ask about cost of parking per nite.
