Anyone who has visited Samana please give us your suggestions &/or recommendations. We will be arriving on EOS the end of March & are at a loss as to what we want to do at this port. Really didn't get much feedback on the Sea Lion encounter. And what we have read about it so far we have lost interest. :( We are considering Cayo Levantado & would like to hear from those of you who have visited Samana. We are looking forward to reading your recommendations. :)

We recently took a RCCL shore excursion to Cay Levantado. The beach was very nice. They had lots of chairs and plenty of palm trees for shade.

There were a lot of vendors selling very nice costume jewelry etc at reasonable prices but be prepared to bargain.

There was food and drink available but they recommended to only buy from vendors that displayed cruise ship approved signs as they are all run by locals.

The ride to get to the beach was a little rough a lot of people got wet. I think the driver trying to give us a thrill as he went very fast .

The tenders are also under local rule. They do not let RCCL use their tenders that are quite large. These tenders are small and only hold about 40 people.

This excursion is not available to to any one with mobility issues. No wheelchairs , scooters ,walkers etc.

I am really glad we did this excursion as I have heard there is not much in Samana and most passengers that just wandered around had nothing good to say about this port.
