Princess Air Arrangements - Tahiti

Recommended Posts

We are booked on Tahitian Princess in February and are curious about comments/experiences from those who may have made this cruise in recent months, as to air arrangements made by Princess. Were you satisfied? Any watchouts? Horror stories? Would be especially interested in hearing from those whose trip originated east of the Mississippi River, since that is where our trip starts.

The ATN flights Princess books you on are not bad at all.................even the food wasn't bad. :) We flew in coach and even that was better than most flights we have taken. Lots of things to keep you occupied.

If you arrange to book your air from LAX to PPT with Princess and then make your own arrangements to LA if you don't live within driving distance of LAX, you can save yourself hundreds.

We had originally booked our air from our home city with Princess and upon looking into it, found that Princess was charging us over $400 pp for a flight that we could obtain for under $200. We booked our own flights to LAX with the schedule that we wanted and it worked out great. Since we were not alerted to our flights times long enough in advance, we just flew into LAX the day prior, booked the Hilton on PriceLine for $50 and had a great nites sleep before boarding the ATN flight for the 8 hours to PPT. Would never do it any other way, it was much nicer from start to finish and we weren't totally exhausted when we arrived in Tahiti.

Also, do not book Princess transfers back to the airport after the cruise, it is a nitemare. Try to arrive at the airport before Princess begins their transfer process by taking a taxi for around $20 or you could be standing in a line for three hours or longer. It is much more comfortable to arrive early and wait then to stand in all of those disorganized lines.

Toto,

Do you remember the times of your flight to and from PPT? We are hoping not to be on that 1 am flight home, but it looks like that might be the only flight available the day our cruise ends (unless there is another Princess only flight that is not on the ATN website). Just wondering.

Thanks.

We did a two night pre-stay and our flight arrived at 9:40 in Papeete (thankfully I still had the confirmation to look at). It took forever to get through the slow customs line so I think we must have arrived at our hotel around 11:15 or later.

Our flight left Papeete at 10:25 but there was only one other flight with Princess passengers on that we heard about and it left around 11:15, if memory serves me correctly. The only flights we heard about that left at the 1:00 AM range were privately booked by passengers. Hopefully if someone else booked through Princess and were placed on the later flights after midnight they will respond to this.
