RCI and under 3 kids...

Hi Jan,

I have cruised several times on RCI with children under 3 - and yes - for the majority of the time you do have to watch your own children ;-)

There is a Mommy and Me play time for the under 3 crowd - when we used it the name was "aqua tots" but I think they have renamed it. It was enjoyable because it gave the kiddos a chance to interact with some children their own age and it was also nice to meet other parents with children the same age.

I believe they also have in cabin babysitting. Staff members can volunteer while they are off duty. I have not personally used this service so I cannot provide any info on the cost. Perhaps CruisinMama will comment on this thread - or better yet - check in on the family cruise board - there is a wealth of information there.

We really enjoyed cruising when our boys were toddlers - however we really, really enjoy cruising now that they can enjoy the adventure ocean kids club ;-)

We have been cruising with our two daughters now 4 & 5 yrs old for for the past few years on rccl. In cabin babysitting works out great, we have never had an issue and always felt very comfortable leaving our kids with the sitters. Usually we have them come at night before we go for dinner, so they basaically are just sitting in the room while they're asleep.

in fact rccl is one of the only lines to offer in room sitting and had to give up on princess as a result (not that we settling).

take them along and enjoy!

Q: Are babysitters available onboard?

A: Babysitting is offered both in a group setting, and individually in your stateroom. In stateroom babysitting must be reserved through the Guest Relations Desk (Purser's Desk) at least 24 hours in advance.

It cannot be reserved prior to the cruise vacation and there is no guarantee that sitters will be available. The service is offered between 8:00 am and 2:00 am when personnel is available. Sitters will be assigned on a first come first served basis

Children MUST be at least 1 year old.

Approximate Rate: $10.00 per hour for one or two children within the same family or $15.00 per hour for three children within the same family.

Times and prices are subject to change without notice. Payment must be made in cash.

And for the Royal Tots/Infants Program with moms and dads...an example of their programs
