did i read 3 am right? no i do not think so, are you kidding? that's crazy!, both form a parental standpoint and for the well being of the children, unless they are 16 or 17. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!then maybe..................

Carnival offered a slumber party my 10 year old daughter wanted to attend. Yes, it was until 3 am but she got bored after midnight. There was an hourly charge for it. Other than being tired the next day, I am not sure what the risk if I am willing to leave them during the day in their care. I either trust them or I don't, if I don't, the hour won't make a difference. She is NOT allowed to check herself out. I have more issues with a 16 or 17 year being unsupervised at that time (no supervision provided for that age) than leaving my younger child in the counselor's care.

did i read 3 am right? no i do not think so, are you kidding? that's crazy!, both form a parental standpoint and for the well being of the children, unless they are 16 or 17. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!then maybe...............I guess i am leaving myself open for criticism or correction here,,,,,,it's okay guys if you want to flamme, but this is new to me if it is available on princess , and it sounds "weird" to me. So they knock on your door at three am and say "here's the kids?"

I promise without flaming, let me see how I can help. Maybe no knock, knock, because your kids would have a key card to the door. They escort them and make sure they are securely inside. The cabins are pretty small so chance are you will hear the rumbling and wake up. For personal reasons, I have used the after hours baby sitting so I can enjoy a late evening with DH. It's really a question of trust. I do trust that my kids will be safe in the counselors care either at 12 noon or 12 midnight. If I don't, then I won't be leaving them not even for a second. If this is a sincere question then there should be no need for disrespect. Not everyone has same amount of trust with people they don't know when their kids are involved. My trust is not dictated by time or a clock but a lot by faith and what others have shared about the program.

If you go when most schools are out (mid June to late August), there should be plenty of kids. My girl was 7 on our Alaskan cruise, and there were many kids and lots of activities, including some itinerary-based and science-oriented ones.

We'll often use the post-10pm kidsitting (on Carnival and Princess), and it's pretty reasonable. Even though, we probably picked her up by midnight. But on her last cruise (at 8 years), she was a bit too old to want to be left there.

We just got back from the CB, Southern Carib tour, although it was kid friendly, there weren't as many activities to do as a family with kids. This was a port intensive cruise so the kids activities on port days (5 of them) were very limited to just child care and games. With that said, when they did have activities they were pretty good. But, having been on Disney twice, I would say that is the ultimate kids cruise. We tend to spend alot/ if not all of the time with our kids and had a great time. The passengers were very nice to our children, with the exception of maybe one grumpy passenger. Other than that everyone was very respectful and kind to them and seemed to go out of their way to talk to them.

I'll add another positive response in favour of Princess for kids. We sailed on the Diamond Princess Vancouver to Whittier, Alaska followed by a five day cruise tour at the end of June 2007 when my oldest daughter was 10 and the youngest a couple weeks shy of 4. They had a fabulous time! If I remember correctly there were about 200 kids on board so there were kids to play with but it wasn't overly crowded. Both girls loved the kids club and the counsellors (although they were primarily there on sea days as they did shore excursions with us). The staff was amazing with my little one - she got loads of positive attention. We never had a sense that any one was upset to see children on board. On the cruise tour where we saw the same people regularly our fellow passengers went out of their way to engage the girls in conversation (my little one is particularly chatty and outgoing) and seemed genuinely glad to see them each day. Don't have any reservations about going to Alaska on Princess - you will have a great time!
