pumbaa70 Posted February 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2009 We are taking the Triumph this summer to Canada and are going to be on Main Deck but the question is are we better at the corner of hte ship in the back which is a larger room and a great view according to Carnival or in the middle right by the Elevator. Any Help would be appreciated.

Any Help would be appreciated. Both have advantages. Closer to stairs/elevator is handy. If you need or want more room, perhaps the corner cabin suits you. Hard for us to know what is really important to you, or which is more important.
waitin4acruise Posted February 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2009 If you want a bigger balcony go for the aft we did the verandah aft.Just be prepared for your balcony to be wet!;)
pumbaa70 Posted February 19, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted February 19, 2009 We dont mind walking a little extra but just want to make sure we are not going to get more noise from engine etc as being at the very back of the boat we are on the Main Deck which is really only 2 from the bottom and have a Window Room no Balcony unfortunaley due to budget but us there any noise
firefly333 Posted February 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2009 If its 2470 or the other corner (might be different on Triumph, thats the cabin # on Conquest), the cabin is as big as a suite. Id take it over midship, even with the rumblings you feel in the back of the ship.

The floor vibrated constantly on Conquest, but I loved having the two windows, more than made up for it. I had read posts saying it was just going into and out of ports, but we felt the vibration all the time. post #8 on this thread has pics of the corner cabin that has 2 windows. Its huge. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=761018

Starfire_rules Posted February 21, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Was on main deck on her sister ship, the Victory, cabin 2290 I believe, and it was perfect. I suffer from motion sickness (well did until I discovered Ginger pills) and there was hardly any noise or motion here. Very relaxing. They say center and lower if you can't handle the motion. On the Triumph we were in a Cat. 11 on the Empress deck and felt the motion more. Our dining room table was way aft and when leaving St. Thomas you really felt the engines vibrate and we were on deck 4. Can't imagine how it felt two decks down. Don't know if that really helps but it is my two cents worth.
pumbaa70 Posted February 21, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Cool you sure it wasnt the water and the engines as Carnival told me we are 6 decks from engines even on Main as they are 2 crew / 2 sotrage and then 2 other decks before engines
Starfire_rules Posted February 21, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Absolutely sure. Even the crew mentioned it was the engines. They were really bookin' there while we were leaving port. But never really noticed them any other nights.
pumbaa70 Posted February 21, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted February 21, 2009 So it was only really an issue when leavign port but not in the middle of the night when it was time to sleep?
Starfire_rules Posted February 21, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Not really. Just leaving and entering ports.
pumbaa70 Posted February 21, 2009 Author #14 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Then it really doesnt matter I would prefer to have the extra room. We wont be in the room really when leaving or entering ports anyway so it might not matter that much anyway
smoothdancer Posted February 21, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 21, 2009 The aft cabins I have had, I too will say it is just when coming in and leaving ports... But if you are coming into port early in the morning it will wake you up!! Aft cabins are really private and quiet all the rest of the time, to me a good tradeoff. pumbaa70 Posted February 21, 2009 Author #16 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Well guess we are going to want to get up anyway coming into port so we can enjoy the day as they are short days off the ship How loud is loud????

Any Help would be appreciated. Depends, do you want to be closer to the elevators/stairs or a larger stateroom? However, I always say the best room is the room you are in. pumbaa70 Posted February 22, 2009 Author #18 Share Posted February 22, 2009 Dotn need to be near elevators or stairs prefer a quiet room with a good view
Starfire_rules Posted February 22, 2009 #19 Share Posted February 22, 2009 And it is more peaceful in the back. Being close to the stairs and elevators does bring the traffic.
