PB or chakanab

I would think that Chankanaab would have the better snorkeling. But it has an admission fee while Dzul Ha, another fine place to snorkel, is free.

In general, places with a rocky shoreline have better snorkeling than places like a beach, where the sand goes out into the water a ways. Corals and sponges need a hard surface to attach to and sand just doesn't do it. It is the coral that attracts the other marine life like the fish that eat coral and the fish that eat other fish. There will be a few fish to see if you snorkel from a sandy beach, but not anywhere near the numbers or variety you will see if you snorkel for a rocky shoreline "beach".
